As a seasoned gamer of the espionage genre, I’ve seen my fair share of covert operations and international intrigues – from the cold war era games to the modern-day digital espionage thrillers. But when it comes to blending real-life drama with high-stakes spy games, few can rival the allure of Showtime‘s upcoming series, The Agency.
Showtime‘s drama series The Agency will serve up some spy games on Thanksgiving weekend.
The upcoming thriller featuring Michael Fassbender as a CIA agent is slated to air its initial episodes on Paramount+ With Showtime starting Nov 29. The series will make its television premiere on the cable network, Showtime, on Dec 1, following two days later.
The trailer for the series has been unveiled by Showtime, revealing that Fassbender’s character, known as Martian, is instructed to leave behind his covert operations and return to London Station. As the woman he once loved (Jodie Turner-Smith) reemerges, their romance is rekindled. However, his professional commitments, true identity, and mission collide with his emotions, thrusting them both into a perilous dance of global intrigue and espionage.
The main cast of the Agency frequently appears alongside Jeffrey Wright, Richard Gere, Katherine Waterston, John Magaro, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, India Fowler, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, and Reza Brojerdi. Hugh Bonneville makes a special appearance, while Adam Nagaitis, Ambreen Razia, Bilal Hasna, David Harewood, Kurt Egyiawan, Ray BLK, Sabrina Wu, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor have recurring roles throughout the series.
This new series hails from Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and was inspired by the critically-acclaimed French drama, “Le Bureau des Legendes.” The writers for this show are Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, with Joe Wright directing the first two episodes. George Clooney and Grant Heslov (through their Smokehouse Pictures), Nina L. Diaz and Keith Cox from Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari of 101 Studios, Alex Berger from TOP-The Originals Productions, Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton from Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America, and Fassbender are the executive producers.
