‘SNL’ Cold Open Sees Teen Girls Get Added to Text Chain on Confidential Yemen Attack Plans

It appears that strategic plans for an attack in Yemen were unintentionally disclosed once more, but this time it wasn’t to fellow security experts – instead, the information ended up being shared with teenage girls during a sketch on “Saturday Night Live”.

This week, a popular NBC comedy sketch show parodied a recent scandal involving members of the Trump administration. Specifically, they joked about how top national security officials added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine to their Signal group chat, where they were discussing plans for an air strike in Yemen. Later, President Donald Trump stated that the information shared in these texts was not classified. Following the disclosure of this leak, The Atlantic magazine published the text messages which contained details about the attack plans.

The most recent episode of SNL kicked off featuring three high school friends chatting about boyfriend issues, only to find themselves unexpectedly included in a group chat with the role-played U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth (performed by Andrew Dismukes).

For your information, Dismukes’ Hegseth indicates a ‘green light’ for the race in Yemen. He seems to be asking who is prepared to target the Houthi rebels. His message includes three flag emojis and a fire emoji, followed by an eggplant emoji. (Translation: He is expressing readiness for military action against the Houthi rebels.)

This week, I’m excited to be part of the sketch comedy show for the first time ever, sharing the stage with the talented and award-winning actress Mikey Madison. Plus, we’ve got Morgan Wallen as our musical guest – can’t wait to groove along!

More to come.
