As a long-time Trekkie who’s seen more starships than I care to remember, I must say that my heart is racing with excitement for the final season of Star Trek: Lower Decks! The wait has been agonizing, but finally, we’ll get to see some justice served for poor Harry Kim – a character who has been unjustly overlooked since his days on Voyager.
This month, the anticipation for the next installment of the “Trek” series will soon be fulfilled. Starting this year, Star Trek: Lower Decks’ final season will grace the 2024 television lineup for Paramount+ subscribers, and fans have been eagerly awaiting several significant moments. If you’ve kept up with “Voyager,” one character is in store for a long-awaited comeuppance that they truly deserve.
In the TV show “Star Trek: Voyager,” there are many unexpected moments, but none have left me as puzzled as the repeated mistreatment of Harry Kim. Luckily, the series “Lower Decks” will offer him some overdue recognition in its final season, and based on the recent trailer for the show, we can catch a glimpse of what’s to come.
Harry Kim Has Two Pips In Star Trek: Lower Decks’ Final Season
As a dedicated Star Trek gamer, I’m super pumped about the latest trailer drop for Lower Decks on Paramount+! There’s an intriguing twist in store for good ol’ Harry Kim. Towards the end of the video, we see a room jam-packed with Harries chillin’, and one notices another who stands out in a way that’ll leave fans scratching their heads. It turns out that our beloved Ensign has earned himself a promotion! No more lowly Ensign for him!
It’s uncertain whether this is Harry from our primary timeline or someone else; either way, it’s exciting to observe Garrett Wang’s character being showcased in the final season. I had been wondering if his past incident involving Harrison Ford might have led to a ban in the new era.
Harry Was Never Promoted In Voyager
Fans are yearning for a sense of justice for Harry Kim in Star Trek: Voyager, even though actors like Kate Mulgrew might have had different storylines they desired for their characters. Despite the various justifications given for why he didn’t receive promotion during their long voyage home, many fans argue that Harry Kim should have been promoted at least once due to his numerous heroic acts throughout the series’ seven seasons.
It falls upon the show “Star Trek: Lower Decks” to underscore this point, given its talent for unearthing humor in issues that fans have long criticized.
I’m crossing my fingers that the finale won’t receive too much criticism, as creator Mike McMahon claims it wraps up nicely even though the show was unfortunately canceled. Ultimately, it will be up to the fans to decide if the series lands well, and I, like many others, can’t wait to find out.
As of now, all I can do is tap my fingers impatiently, waiting for the new season to drop on Paramount+ this coming Thursday, October 24th. With the news that we’ll get a prominent Harry Kim, I can hardly contain my excitement about what other major twists and turns are in store for us in these final episodes.
