As a dedicated follower and admirer of Sydney Sweeney‘s extraordinary journey, I find myself utterly captivated by her latest revelations about reprising her role as Cassie Howard in Euphoria season three. Her candidness about the challenges and excitement that come with returning to a character after such a significant time jump is not only relatable but also inspiring.
Sydney Sweeney is discussing the leap forward in time for Season 3 of ‘Euphoria’ and reprising her role, which she hasn’t portrayed since the 2022 second season concluded.
As my sun-soaked summer holiday comes to an end, I find myself gearing up for a thrilling new adventure – stepping into the iconic role of Barbarella in the highly anticipated remake of the 1968 cult classic that bore the same name. This time around, it’s me who’ll be following in the footsteps of the legendary Jane Fonda, and I can hardly wait to bring this timeless character to life for a new generation of fans!
When asked about her feelings as Cassie Howard of Euphoria returns for season three, production starting in January 2025, she shared that this is her initial experience playing a role again after such a long gap of years.
“She mentioned that there was quite a gap between season one and two, and with the recent time leap, it’s all fresh ground for her. She’s essentially figuring things out as she goes along, staying open to whatever lies ahead, but she’s also eager. After all, she adores Cassie, and playing such an intriguing character is always a delight for her, so she can’t wait to see what happens in Cassie’s story.”
She’s particularly excited about going back to work on the third installment, which has been in development for a while. She expressed that being with her co-stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and others feels like returning home to her family.
Sweeney stated, “They were the team and actors who were with me when my career started. We all had diverse backgrounds, but we found each other and were dealing with so much at the same time. It’s comforting having that core group because they’re going through something similar to what I am. It’s great to have that sense of community.”
The “Anyone But You” actor and producer briefly mentioned “Euphoria” season three in March, but has since been silent on the topic. When asked by MTV’s Josh Horowitz if she intended to take a break following consecutive press tours for the rom-com films, “Madame Web” and “Immaculate”, Sweeney stated that she would be diving right into the popular HBO series instead.
After her remark gained widespread attention, with fans eagerly anticipating the show’s return, she confessed that discussing it is as nerve-wracking as discussing Marvel movies, which is why she has been relatively quiet about the topic since then.
Two days after the announcement, HBO postponed season three’s filming indefinitely, giving the cast permission to explore other roles. Later in July, they revealed that production would resume early the following year.
