teamLab Planets TOKYO Unveils Major Expansion with New Immersive Attractions

teamLab Planets TOKYO is preparing to grow, revealing numerous immersive enhancements that seamlessly integrate art, learning, and physical engagement. Nestled in Toyosu, Tokyo, the exhibition area will enlarge by 1.5 times, debuting three primary features: the “Athletic Forest,” “Collecting and Harvesting Extinct Forest,” and “Future Park.” In these zones, more than ten new interactive art exhibits will be showcased, offering a multi-sensory adventure for visitors of all ages.

The “Athletic Forest” is an interactive and imaginative environment that inspires guests to explore the world using movement and bodily interaction. Notable features include pieces such as the “Whirling, Bouncing Orbs” and the “Airborne Climbing Experience” among a “Murmuration of Colored Birds.” Here, participants navigate intricate spatial layouts intended to boost spatial perception and creativity.

As an enthusiast, I can’t help but rave about the immersive adventure that is “Catching and Collecting Extinct Forest”. This one-of-a-kind journey invites me to embark on a digital expedition, where I employ my smartphone to discover and gather virtual representations of extinct creatures. It’s an exhilarating fusion of technology and exploration, all while cultivating understanding about the importance of biodiversity and the sobering reality of extinction.

At the “Future Park,” teamwork is the main event. Here, visitors have the opportunity to join forces and produce living masterpieces. For instance, “Sketch Umwelt World” transforms drawings into dynamic 3D animations, while “A Table Where Little People Live” brings physical items to life in a virtual world filled with animated characters.

At the “Sketch Factory”, guests have the opportunity to transform their own masterpieces into unique souvenirs such as personalized t-shirts, totes, or crafted paper items. Additionally, the outdoor zones of the exhibit will undergo a revitalization, creating fresh spaces for visitors to discover and appreciate.

Tickets for visits through February are available now on teanLab’s official website.
