Teenage Engineering Launches Medieval-Themed EP–1320

As a music enthusiast with a penchant for the unusual and a soft spot for medieval history, I find myself utterly captivated by Teenage Engineering‘s latest creation – the EP-1320 Medieval! Growing up listening to everything from Gregorian chants to heavy metal, this sampler, sequencer, and composer seems like it was tailor-made for me.

After unveiling the EP–133 K.O. II, Teenage Engineering returns with another unique creation. Meet the EP-1320 Medieval, a fresh addition to their lineup. As its name implies, this new sampler, sequencer, and composer comes equipped with a distinctive Medieval motif.

Armed with an array of over 200 medieval tones and recordings spanning hurdy-gurdies, lutes, bagpipes, Gregorian chants, thunderous drums, and coconut horse hooves, this device offers a rich, immersive experience. It’s designed to transport listeners into various scenarios such as sword fights, witchcraft ceremonies, or even confrontations with ancient dragons, thanks to its collection of foley sounds and effects. The EP-1320 also enables users to record their own unique sounds using the built-in microphone or line input for a truly personalized experience.

Visually speaking, this device doesn’t fall short of expectations. It maintains the typical appearance and structure of any EP series model, but with a unique twist. The color scheme, graphic design, and font used are all fitting for its Dark Age theme. The dominant colors are dark green, muddy brown, and sage green, with white and vibrant red accents. The keys and indicators now come in a Gothic-style font, and instead of English, Latin is utilized. Additionally, the term “instrumentalis electronicum,” which means “electronic instrument” in Latin, can be found engraved on the device.

The EP-1320 Medieval product is housed in packaging that matches its theme. Upon first look, the box appears like a large hardcover book featuring Medieval artwork, where a figure tinkers with the sampler while a tiny, musical creature hovers nearby. Moreover, Teenage Engineering offers other items themed around the Middle Ages, such as a bag for carrying the sampler, a T-shirt, a keychain, and a unique vinyl record.

As an enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the EP-1320 Medieval, priced at $299 USD, is now up for grabs on Teenage Engineering’s official webstore, ready for ordering!
