The Peacock original series “Twisted Metal” features Anthony Mackie, known from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking control behind the wheel for a perilous deliver-or-die trek across a post-apocalyptic United States. This twisted, zany, and darkly humorous sci-fi show brings the iconic vehicles, characters, and chaos of the classic PlayStation video game series to life in a vivid and violent manner, with Anthony Mackie sharing the screen with an impressive cast including Stephanie Beatriz (from “Encanto” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Thomas Haden Church (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”, “Sideways”), and the team of Will Arnett (“BoJack Horseman”, the “LEGO” movie series) and wrestler Samoa Joe as the menacing clown Sweet Tooth.

Mrs. Davis
Betty Gilpin, known for her roles in ‘GLOW’ and ‘The Hunt’, stars as Sister Simone, a devoted nun who embarks on a quest to find the Holy Grail in the original sci-fi series ‘Mrs. Davis’, streaming on Peacock. This intriguing series is the brainchild of Damon Lindelof (creator of HBO’s ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Lost’) and Tara Hernandez (‘The Big Bang Theory’). The show combines elements of comedy, drama, thriller, and a touch of magical realism, making it an unexpectedly entertaining adventure. Sister Simone is on a mission to break the control that the AI character in the series seems to have over almost everyone on Earth, apart from herself and her diverse group of allies who share her dislike for AI.

Teacup
In the spirit of Robert McCammon’s 1988 novel “Stinger,” the movie “Teacup” tells the story of a diverse group of individuals confronting an enigmatic and possibly supernatural danger on a secluded farm in Georgia. This farm belongs to the Chenoweth family, who are headed by veterinarian Maggie, played by Yvonne Strahovski from “The Tomorrow War,” and high school English teacher James, portrayed by Scott Speedman from “The Strangers.” The ensemble also features Chaske Spencer as Ruben Shanley, Kathy Baker as Ellen Chenoweth, Caleb Dolden as Arlo Chenoweth, Émilie Bierre as Meryl Chenoweth, Diany Rodriguez as Valeria Shanley, Luciano Leroux as Nicholas Shanley, Boris McGiver as Donald Kelly, and Rob Morgan as McNab.

Poker Face
In the Peacock series “Poker Face,” Natasha Lyonne plays Charlie Cale, a woman who possesses an extraordinary ability to detect lies. This talent proves useful as she navigates her way across the country, solving murder mysteries in the style of Columbo while evading dangerous individuals from Vegas who are determined to end her life. The show shares the same sharp-witted storytelling that has made Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” movies so popular. With a star-studded cast featuring many notable guest stars, Season 1 is jam-packed with intrigue, and Season 2 promises even more big names!

Caprica
A prequel spinoff of Ronald D. Moore’s rebooted TV series “Battlestar Galactica,” titled “Caprica,” aired for one season on SYFY in 2010. This series, as Trent Moore from SYFY WIRE put it, is a large-scale story at its core but fundamentally revolves around two families whose lives are entwined by a tragedy. The intense emotions of loss and despair drive the development of technology that leads to the creation of the Cylons and their rise. Essentially, “Caprica” presents a contrast to “Battlestar Galactica,” which was a war series packed with action, set on the verge of events.

Resident Alien
In simpler terms, the TV shows SYFY and USA Network‘s “Resident Alien” revolves around an alien named Harry Vanderspeigle (Alan Tudyk), who accidentally lands on Earth and assumes Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle’s identity as a local town doctor. Despite the humor in his fish-out-of-water predicament, he is secretly planning to annihilate Earth. The show, which has already completed its third season, is filled with laughter, thanks to its main star Alan Tudyk, and will bring you immense joy.

Three-Body
According to SYFY WIRE’s Matthew Jackson, the novel “Three-Body,” reminiscent of Liu Cixin’s Hugo Award-winning work, weaves a dense tapestry of secrets and disclosures surrounding the unearthing of an alien civilization located merely a few light years from Earth. This cosmic system boasts three suns, giving rise to the title’s reference to the ‘three-body problem.’ The story unfolds across different timelines, starting during China’s Cultural Revolution in the mid-20th century and extending into the present day. As the narrative unfurls, it incorporates various elements such as a clandestine government initiative, a floating settlement complete with its own military force, and a virtual reality game that holds an unexpected function. To put it mildly, this story is intricate, and “Three-Body” strives to render that complexity accurately.

Farscape
20-plus years have passed since Farscape first hit the screens, yet its loyal fanbase remains steadfast. I, as a gamer and sci-fi enthusiast, can vouch for this timeless series. The story revolves around John Crichton (played by Ben Browder), a human astronaut who ends up stranded on an alien planet after being inadvertently pulled through a wormhole. His quest to return home leads him to team up with a motley crew of extraterrestrial outlaws, who eventually transform into his found family. If you’re craving some thrilling interstellar escapades, Farscape is definitely worth your time – be it the first watch or a revisit.

Heroes
Save the cheerleader, save the world.” This TV series revolves around ordinary people who have suddenly developed extraordinary powers. The story unfolds with a group of these newly empowered individuals and their responses to discovering their abilities. Notably, some of them swiftly turn into villains, and it becomes necessary for others to halt them, whether they are willing or not.

The Ark
In the series The Ark, airing on SYFY, a group of survivors aboard the spaceship Ark One are on a mission to find a new planet to save Earth from extinction. As they navigate through both natural and man-made hazards, Lieutenant Sharon Garnet (Christie Burke from the Twilight saga) takes charge as the emergency commander. This gripping show was co-created by Dean Devlin, who has worked on shows like Stargate and Independence Day, and Jonathan Glassner of Stargate SG-1 fame. The series promises to be a thrilling space survival drama where no one can be saved but themselves.

Brave New World
This television show, which premiered on Peacock in 2020 and shares its name with a famous 1932 sci-fi novel by Aldous Huxley, has been updated for modern times. For instance, it incorporates an artificial intelligence element. However, the core concept remains unchanged: the residents of this future society are said to be living in what they believe is a utopia, but in reality, every aspect of their lives is tightly regulated by the government.

The Triangle
In the days of the Sci-Fi channel, now known as SYFY, this celebrated series of events took a fascinating, time-bending exploration through an intriguing theory about the enigmatic secrets hidden within the Bermuda Triangle. The show, titled Jurassic Park‘s Sam Neill, teamed up with Eric Stoltz, Bruce Davison, and Lou Diamond Phillips. Notably, the creative team behind this production included sci-fi legends like Dean Devlin (of Stargate, The Ark, Independence Day) and Rockne S. O’Bannon (Farscape, Alien Nation).
If you’re feeling adventurous, check out The Triangle series on Peacock. You can stream all three episodes from one of the most unique miniseries that came out in 2005. Enjoy!
Primeval
As a fan, I’d describe Primeval as a unique blend of “Stargate” and “La Brea,” where I follow a dedicated team of scientists delving into a mysterious time rift that brings ancient creatures into the present. This captivating show was masterfully crafted by the dynamic duo, Tim Haines (of “Walking With Dinosaurs” fame) and Adrian Hodges (known for “Survivors”). In an interview with IGN back in 2008, Tim Haines shared that British shows often delve into the past or draw inspiration from the Hammer Horror tradition. Primeval, however, represents a different television tradition, one that successfully combines humor, suspense, adult themes, all while remaining accessible to both children and adults – much like “Buffy” did before us.

Sliders
In the 1990s, there was a TV series called “Sliders” which explored the concept of multiverses before the Marvel Cinematic Universe came into being. The story revolves around a team who, after their “sliding” technology malfunctions and they lose track of the coordinates to their original universe, find themselves traveling through various universes instead. It’s an entertaining show that may bring back fond memories of the ’90s for those who had the chance to live in that era.

SeaQuest DSV
SeaQuest DSV is a ’90s television show that blends science fiction with underwater adventures. The story unfolds in the future year of 2018, as depicted within the series, where Earth’s surface resources have been depleted and humanity has established colonies beneath the ocean’s surface. Our submarine, seaQuest DSV 4600, is tasked with safeguarding these underwater settlements. Despite the absence of surface conflicts, intergovernmental tensions persist even at the ocean floor, and seaQuest’s crew often finds themselves in the midst of such disputes from the very first episode.

Intergalactic
As a devoted fan, I’d rephrase it like this: I, Ash Harper (Savannah Steyn), am an accomplished pilot and aspiring law enforcer, whose world crumbles when I’m falsely accused and sentenced to life in exile on a distant planet. During the journey to the cosmic prison, my fellow prisoners launch a rebellion, taking control of the spacecraft. With no other pilots remaining, I form an uneasy alliance with crime boss Tula Quik (Sharon Duncan-Brewster), aiming to find freedom among the stars of a distant constellation.

Defiance
Originating from the mind of Farscape’s creator Rockne S. O’Bannon, Defiance aired on SYFY for a span of three seasons from 2013 to 2015. As Benjamin Bullard of SYFY WIRE described, this series was an expansive piece of sci-fi that effectively utilized its genre credentials. The story unfolded in a Earth that had been terraformed and inhabited by humans and aliens post a first-contact event in the early 2000s. The show’s namesake city, nestled amidst the dilapidated remains of St. Louis, served as the central setting for numerous layers of intrigue. All this unfolded against a captivating score by renowned composer Bear McCreary.

Space: 1999
Regrettably, we hadn’t established a functioning lunar base at the turn of the century, let alone one that would have gone astray into space accidentally. However, that detail is inconsequential! Space: 1999, a production jointly created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson — the geniuses behind the puppet series Thunderbirds — features Martin Landau as Commander John Koenig, a brave and steadfast leader of a lunar outpost, which finds itself drifting through the universe.
