The Accountant 2 Sadly Confirmed My Theory About A Major Character Death In New Trailer, But I’m Still All-In On Ben Affleck’s Return

Among the many eagerly anticipated films slated for 2025, “_The Accountant 2_” stands out as one of the most highly anticipated gems. Even though a nine-year gap between sequels isn’t uncommon in some franchises, I’m still thrilled that Ben Affleck’s action/thriller sequel is indeed in production.

Time hasn’t weakened the prowess of his character, and despite an initial heartbreaking event, I’m incredibly excited for this film. The second installment of the 2016 hit directed by Gavin O’Connor is shaping up to be intense, as Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) and his brother Brax (Jon Bernthal) find themselves in a deeply personal conflict.

From what we can gather from the initial trailer for Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming film “The Accountant 2,” it appears that J.K. Simmons’ character, Ray King, may have left his position at the Treasury and moved on to another realm. This was hinted at when the storyline mentioned the murder of an old acquaintance as a trigger for this new adventure.

It’s hard for me to fully grasp that The Accountant 2 is happening, given my conversation with the director of The Way Back in 2020 suggested it was no longer an option. However, during O’Connor’s ReelBlend appearance in 2021, he retracted his statement and announced that Christian Wolff would return to do both number crunching and some neck-breaking again.

The sequel to “The Accountant” hits theaters on April 25th, so it’s wise to get your taxes in shape beforehand. No one wants to imagine the displeasure of Christian Wolff when someone tries to file without a proper extension, and neither should you.

More to come…
