‘The Agency’ Scores Season 2 Renewal at Showtime

As a long-time fan of gripping spy dramas, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the swift renewal of The Agency for a second season! With its stellar cast led by Michael Fassbender and the creative minds behind it like George Clooney and Jez Butterworth, this series is a must-watch for anyone who loves a good undercover tale.

Paramount+ With Showtime will continue its spy games with The Agency.

The Michael Fassbender spy series has been swiftly renewed for a second season, following its debut just a few days ago on November 29th on Paramount+ with Showtime, and it will air on Showtime domestically two days later. Internationally, the series premiered on Paramount+ as well.

Ever since its initial broadcast, “The Agency” has garnered an impressive viewership of 5.1 million people globally. This number marks a record for the most-streamed debut of a new series on Showtime, as reported by Paramount.

The thriving status of ‘The Agency’ indicates that Paramount+ is set to enter a new period of expansion with its Showtime lineup, as stated by Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. This triumph underscores the inventive prowess of the team helmed by executive producers George Clooney, Jez Butterworth, Joe Wright, and David Glasser, along with an exceptional cast featuring Michael Fassbender, Richard Gere, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Jeffrey Wright.

The TV show The Agency is modeled after the French series Le Bureau des Legendes, and it centers around a CIA agent played by Fassbender who gets called back to the agency’s London office from an undercover mission. When his past love (Turner-Smith) resurfaces, their relationship reignites, creating a conflict between his personal feelings and his professional obligations, as well as putting his true identity at risk.

Besides Fassbender, Turner-Smith, Gere, and Wright, the series’ main cast also features Katherine Waterston, John Magaro, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, India Fowler, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, and Reza Brojerdi.

101 Studios, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, and other production companies collaborate on the creation of “The Agency”. The executive producers include Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, Keith Cox and Nina L. Diaz from Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari from 101 Studios, Clooney and Grant Heslov of Smokehouse Pictures, Alex Berger of TOP – The Originals Productions, Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton of Federation Studios/Federation Entertainment of America, Fassbender, and Wright, who directed the first two episodes.
