As a seasoned sneakerhead with over two decades of collecting under my belt, I can confidently say that the return of the Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” is nothing short of exhilarating news. Having been introduced to the sneaker world during its initial release back in ’90-’91, these kicks hold a special place in my heart. The original pair I managed to cop back then still sits proudly on my shelf as a testament to my early days as a collector.
Name: Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red”
MSRP: $210 USD
Release Date: Fall 2025
Where to Buy: Nike
2025 plans for Jordan Brand’s sneaker releases are gradually being unveiled online, and it has been disclosed that the original Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” will make a comeback. It appears that this model will be part of their autumn Air Jordan collection, marking its 35th anniversary. The “Fire Red” joins other highly anticipated releases such as the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” and Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined.
In Michael Jordan’s collection of signature shoes, the “Fire Red” stands out because it has two original colorways. One features a reflective tongue and primarily black midsole, while the other is more red-based with a black tongue. Interestingly, the red-based version is set to return in 2025, retaining all its original details such as Jordan’s #23 embroidered on the heel and a large Nike Air logo at the back. The black-tongued colorway was last released in 2013, sporting a Jumpman symbol instead of the classic Nike Air branding, making this upcoming release the closest to the original design yet. (Note that the re-release will not bear Michael Jordan’s signature on its collar.)
Expect the Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” to touch down towards the end of 2025, and retail for $210 USD.
