Back in 2009, I was quite the Twilight enthusiast, though it brings a bit of cringe to recall my ‘vampire phase’. The influence of these books and films was truly remarkable, and let me tell you, the debate between Team Jacob and Team Edward at lunch tables was intense! It’s always intriguing to catch up with the Twilight cast and discover what went on behind the scenes. Lately, Peter Facinelli, who played Vampire dad, and Ashley Greene, our clairvoyant queen, have shared a tale about a Kristen Stewart look-alike that got them into some trouble, and this story is just priceless.
During MegaCon Orlando (as reported by People), former Twilight cast members Ashley Greene and Peter Facinelli, famously known as Alice and Carlisle Cullen, reminisced with their fellow actors about some of the mischief that transpired on set. Among the anecdotes shared, Greene mentioned that one of her most cherished memories was when the producers attempted to confiscate phones, claiming:
It tickles me to see them attempt to seize our phones – as if that was even a possibility. I’d say that was more like the… third or fourth try, wouldn’t you?
The discussion here pertains to the filming of the second movie in the series, titled “New Moon.” It wasn’t until these two films that mobile phones were prohibited. Fortunately, Facinelli admitted to the extraordinary incident that caused this rule to be implemented.
A brief moment later, following Greene’s reference to the phone ban, a discussion ensued between her and Facinelli concerning a realistic-sized figure of Kristen Stewart.
As we navigated backstage during filming, there was a pause while they worked on set. Suddenly, I stumbled upon a table and discovered what appeared to be a lifelike replica of Kristen Stewart lying there. This prop was created for scenes where her character’s neck is broken… would you call it a doll? A corpse? More like a mannequin, but it bore an uncanny resemblance to her.
Intrigued by the discovery of the replica, I felt compelled to snap a few shots for my personal collection, much like an actor might explain his actions on-screen.
Initially, we were giggling, snapping selfies, and playfully picking her nose and licking her ears – we planned to surprise her with them later. However, we were spotted by the security personnel, leading to our predicament. In simpler terms, we ended up getting into trouble.
It appears as though the antics of Facinelli and Greene might have resulted in the implementation of the phone ban. While I can’t say for certain, it’s an interpretation supported by this amusing story. Keep in mind, this is merely my personal viewpoint.
Yet, the fun doesn’t end there. Facinelli also reminisced about a humorous incident involving him and Robert Pattinson during their on-screen neck biting scene in the initial movie. Thus, even though the movies are filled with drama and action, it appears that filming them was a delightful experience.
There has been a resurgence of interest in Twilight, with the announcement of the Midnight Sun adaptation being a significant factor. Although I am no longer a devoted Twihard, I must acknowledge that this development is quite significant. Many fans are still grappling with the shocking twist at the end and debating the merits of the movies versus the books. Moreover, the emergence of Twilight Legos indicates a strong appetite for these films, the cast, and amusing anecdotes like this one.
If you’re yearning for a nostalgic journey or impatiently waiting for the release of Midnight Sun, the Twilight movies are available for streaming on Peacock. Regardless of personal opinions, Twilight held significant value for many individuals, and it’s heartening to witness the cast reuniting occasionally to share behind-the-scenes stories from when the cameras weren’t rolling.
Right now, I’m quite curious to check out those photos featuring the Stewart mannequin. If it managed to ban phones, it must be something worth seeing.
