‘The Lunar Chronicles’ Animated Movie Lands 2028 Release From Warner Bros.

The animated feature adaptation of The Lunar Chronicles has set a launch date.

I’m super excited to share that the movie by director Noëlle Raffaele, based on Marissa Meyer’s beloved novel series set in a futuristic fairy tale world, is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov 3, 2028! Can’t wait to immerse myself in this fantastical universe on the big screen.

The animation project, jointly produced by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation, features a screenplay penned by Lindsey Ferrentino along with collaborators Kalen Egan and Travis Sentell. Christina Steinberg is the producer for this venture.

A group of innovative thinkers is needed to animate the intricate and bold universe depicted in The Lunar Chronicles. This story seems as if it has been waiting for the perfect time and the ideal storytellers to be shared. It’s exhilarating, moving, and unlike anything we’ve encountered before, according to Warner Bros. Pictures Animation president Bill Damaschke and Locksmith Animation CEO Natalie Fischer in a joint statement. They are immensely proud and eager for the public to immerse themselves in it by 2028.

The Lunar Chronicles represents the second joint project between Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation, coming after the upcoming animated musical film “Bad Fairies” that is scheduled to debut in cinemas in July of 2027.

Meyer’s books reimagine traditional fairy tale figures against a backdrop of increasing strife between Earth and its breakaway colony Luna in a sci-fi setting. The series began with the publication of “Cinder” in 2012, and the film version was initially announced in 2022.

Raffaele held the position of director in the animated show, “DC Super Hero Girls,” and worked as a story artist for both “The Lego Ninjago Movie” and “The Marvels.
