As a die-hard fan of survival reality shows, I find myself utterly captivated by CBS’s newest addition, The Summit. Having scaled several mountains myself (and lived to tell the tale), I can attest that the decision to accept the Mountain Keeper’s offer in “Snakes And Ladders” episode is a no-brainer.
The show titled “The Summit” has begun on CBS’s fall television lineup, and it didn’t take long for the competitors to realize how tough this game can get. Caught off guard by a surprise twist, they were tasked with scaling a mountain within 14 days for a chance to win $1,000,000. Already, one contestant had to withdraw due to health issues, causing the team to miss a checkpoint. Luckily, a sneak peek at the clip above reveals that the Mountain Keeper provides a useful lifeline in the upcoming episode “Snakes And Ladders.” Given the high stakes, making the right choice seems like an obvious decision.
In the previously shown video, the Mountain Keeper suggested that two competitors could fly to the next stage by helicopter. If they chose to send two of their team members who were finding the journey difficult by helicopter instead, there was a possibility they would make it to the next checkpoint on time and thereby skip another night of hardship.
The downside is that they’ll all go without food that night in exchange, and going hungry is obviously a big price to pay. The clip ends before fans see what is chosen, but we’ll get the answer when tuning into The Summit on CBS on Wednesday, October 16th at 9:30 p.m. ET or on streaming with a Paramount+ subscription.
I Think Taking The Helicopter Ride Offer Is The Obvious Choice
If I were among the contestants on The Summit who are somewhat unhappy, I wouldn’t hesitate to accept the helicopter ride. A less skilled climber might hold back because accepting help could make them a target during elimination, but in my opinion, they’d be more at risk if they declined the offer when it was necessary for their well-being.
If you were the one lagging behind the group, opting against using the helicopter, only for everyone to miss the checkpoint regardless, it would make me think: if I weren’t the one causing the checkpoint to be missed, I’d want the person responsible removed from the team straight away.

TopMob’s Laura Hurley wrote about her experience.
Simultaneously, refusing food for two people to enjoy a free ride would certainly leave me feeling less than satisfied. Although the mountain appears stunning and suitable for a TV show, it’s still challenging to climb. Climbing for an extra three hours from that spot, only to arrive without food, would be tough.
Given the circumstances, I’d likely push myself to reach the deadline despite being exhausted from transporting both genuine and counterfeit cash, if it ensured a cozy tent instead of enduring the cold outside the checkpoint. While I don’t particularly enjoy camping, those spacious tents appear far more appealing than the makeshift shelters made with sleeping bags.
If you haven’t had a peek at an enthralling reality TV series yet, it’s definitely worth your time. Frankly, it’s been a while since we witnessed a reality show this intense since Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, which is exclusive to celebrities. The show keeps me on the edge of my seat as I watch the contestants conquer a mountain and employ tactics to both weaken and eliminate a blend of strong and weak competitors. So far, I can’t get enough, and I hope it stays engaging as we approach the season finale in December.
As mentioned, The Summit airs on CBS on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET. Keep with TopMob as the season airs, as we all watch together and see who will ultimately reach the top of the mountain.
