As a dedicated gamer of The Voice for several seasons now, I was genuinely taken aback by Tanner Frick’s sudden departure from the competition. His country twang and raw talent had me hooked since his Four-Chair Turn performance. It’s a real pity that we won’t get to see him battle it out in the Playoffs.
Minor spoilers ahead for the November 11 episode of The Voice Season 26. Catch up by streaming episodes with a Peacock subscription.
This week, The Voice initiated its Knockout round as per the 2024 TV schedule. Each superstar coach’s team consisted of three contenders competing against each other for a single spot in the Playoffs. Snoop Dogg reigned supreme on Night 1 by preserving all his artists, thanks to his strategic use of Saves and Steals. However, there was an unexpected vacancy on Michael Bublé’s team. The host, Carson Daly, disclosed that Tanner Frick had exited the competition. Fans grew curious after Frick shared a mysterious message on social media platforms.
Tanner Frick was slated to face off against fellow Team Michael members Sloan Simon and Cameron Wright on November 11, but ahead of the night’s final Knockout, Carson Daly explained that the 26-year-old “left the competition after rehearsals.” No further mention was made of Frick’s sudden disappearance, and those who went searching for him on social media found a video of him seemingly recording a song:

The caption on the video, which he also posted to TikTok, included lyrics from the record that seemed especially poignant given his absence from The Voice, as he wrote:
Ain’t nobody want me anyway…
The responses to the post clearly demonstrated that the statement was not accurate, as numerous fans expressed worry and dismay over missing out on watching the rest of his competitive journey. Their feedback encompassed a range of concerned and disappointed comments.

Tanner Frick showcased his talent during the Blind Auditions with the song “Thought You Should Know,” originally sung by Morgan Wallen. Given his impressive performance, it wasn’t surprising that the country singer from Tennessee opted to join Team Reba McEntire. Unfortunately, in the Battles round, he faced a loss, but luckily for him, Michael Bublé stepped in to save him.
According to Carson Daly’s statement, it seems that he went to rehearsals to participate in the Knockouts competition. However, it remains unclear if he stayed for the entire session when Jennifer Hudson, assisting Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé, offered guidance to their singers. Sting, on the other hand, aided Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani’s teams as their Mega Mentor during this time.
Without any clarification provided by the show or the artist himself, we’re left guessing why he left Season 26. It might be due to a variety of reasons such as personal issues, creative disputes, health matters, or other commitments. Unfortunately, the specifics remain unknown. However, it’s clear that he managed to win over many fans during his brief stint on The Voice.
