‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ Is Finally Available To Stream on Netflix

There’s hardly any argument that “The Walking Dead,” which started in 2010, is among the most remarkable post-apocalyptic franchises ever made. Based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, it captivated viewers with its story about people surviving in a zombie-ridden America. The AMC series was so popular that it led to several spin-offs, and now, arguably the best “Walking Dead” series is gaining popularity on Netflix, reaching a new audience.

As of now, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” is currently ranked fifth on Netflix’s Top 10 TV series, neatly positioned between the hit show “Squid Games” in fourth place and Gabriel Iglesias’ comedy special “The Legend of Fluffy” in sixth spot. This latest spin-off from the zombie series was recently introduced to the streaming platform as part of a contract to feature AMC programs, and predictably, it swiftly started gaining popularity.

Among the seven series within the “The Walking Dead” universe, “The Ones Who Live” has garnered the highest rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Debuting on February 25, 2024, this spinoff revolves around the characters of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). As of now, it holds a Certified Fresh status with an impressive 88% approval rating from critics. The limited six-episode series brought back these beloved characters after a significant gap, contributing to its widespread appeal. This post-apocalyptic tale, rich in emotion, is being hailed as the best in the franchise due to its exceptional character development, making it a must-watch for fans of the series.

‘The Walking Dead’ Returns This Summer

Unfortunately, we won’t see a new season of “The Ones Who Live” for some time, however, fans eager for more “The Walking Dead” content don’t have to wait long as the second season of “Dead City” is slated to debut on AMC this summer. It’s one of two spin-offs now airing, with the other – titled “Daryl Dixon” – having recently concluded its second season.

The show titled “Dead City” follows Maggie and Negan as they traverse a Manhattan overrun by zombies, with the goal of rescuing Maggie’s son who was abducted. Throughout their journey, they encounter various dangers such as Dama and the Croat. When the series comes back later this year, a formidable new antagonist named Brugal, played by Kim Coates, will make an appearance. In a chat with MovieWeb recently, Coates hinted that his character is unlike any he’s portrayed before, and teased that he’ll be one of the most ruthless villains we’ve witnessed thus far. “Brugal is a character I’ve never played before,” Coates shared. “He’s witty, vicious, and childlike; I can’t wait for people to see it.

We’re just as eager as you are, since “Dead City” has rapidly climbed our favorites list now that “The Ones Who Live” is finished. You can stream both spin-offs on AMC+ at the moment, but if you don’t have a subscription to that service, you can stream “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” on Netflix right now.
