As a seasoned gamer and sneakerhead who lived through the golden era of Drake and Jordan Brand collaborations, I can say with certainty that these OVO x Air Jordan 9 samples have my heart racing like never before! After the turbulent times we’ve all faced in 2024, it’s truly refreshing to see a glimpse of the past that brings back such joy.
These samples are reminiscent of the iconic releases from 2015 to 2019, with their stately black, white and gold color scheme that has become synonymous with OVO. The high-gloss leather on the white pair and the more muted matte leather on the black version make these kicks stand out even among the legendary collaborations of this duo.
The golden touches on both pairs, from the tongue badge to the insole and translucent outsole, add a touch of opulence that only OVO can deliver. And let’s not forget about the October’s Very Own text hit on the tongue tag – it’s the cherry on top of this sneaker masterpiece!
Now if only I could find the virtual reality headset to truly immerse myself in these stunning samples… Maybe Drake can lend me his Oculus Rift, since he seems to have a bit more free time these days. After all, they say every cloud has a silver lining!
Following a challenging year in 2024 (to say the least), Drake is eager for any positive outcomes – not the kind Anita Max might refer to – that he can achieve in 2025. Fortunately, his shoe collection looks promising as we step into the new year, with a sneak peek of NOCTA x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Pink Foam” becoming available, and now, images of two OVO x Air Jordan 9 prototypes being leaked.
From 2015 to 2019, OVO and Jordan Brand collaborated on various projects. They teamed up for multiple retail launches, including versions of the Air Jordan 12, Air Jordan 10, and Air Jordan 8, among others. Additionally, they produced a large number of samples, special editions (PEs), and unreleased designs, most of which followed OVO’s distinctive black, white, and gold color scheme.
During this period, there were two sample colorways of the Air Jordan 9 that never hit the shelves. These “look-see” samples were prototypes created to visualize and assess the design of a silhouette before mass production. The final retail release may differ from these prototypes. However, these OVO Air Jordan 9s are very similar in material and color scheme to other releases from that era.
Each white shoe features a sleek, high-shine leather build, embellished with gold trims on the tongue badge, insole, and transparent sole. In contrast, the black pair goes for a more subdued style with matte leather, an opaque outsole, and branding elements split between gold and black. A notable feature shared by both pairs is the tongue tag, which replaces the usual Air Jordan logo with the October’s Very Own text logo.
