‘Until Dawn’ Video Game Adaptation Adds Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli and Peter Stormare (Exclusive)

As a die-hard fan of horror movies and video games alike, I am absolutely thrilled to see the cast for Until Dawn shaping up to be a chilling ensemble! With Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, and Peter Stormare joining Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion, this production is promising an electrifying blend of talent.

Actors Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameri, and Peter Stormare are set to appear in the cast for the film adaptation of “Until Dawn,” which is a popular horror video game produced by Sony’s Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions.

As a seasoned film industry professional, I can confidently say that the casting for this upcoming production is nothing short of impressive. With Mitchell, Cameli, Stormare, Rubin, Cimino, Yoo, and A’zion all set to join forces, it’s clear that we are in for a treat. Having worked on sets myself, I can attest to the fact that a diverse and talented cast like this one is a recipe for success. Each actor brings their unique skills and experiences to the table, which will undoubtedly enrich the project and create a dynamic and engaging story. I eagerly await the start of shooting in mid-August and am excited to see these talented individuals bring their characters to life on screen.

David F. Sandberg, most recently known for directing “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” is going back to the horror genre and is teaming up once more with his collaborator Gary Dauberman, who worked with him on “Annabelle: Creation,” in this new project.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been involved in the latest draft of a script, which is quite an exciting project. I’m not just a fan, but also the writer and producer of this masterpiece, under my own banner, Coin Operated. Mia Maniscalco is joining me in this creative journey, along with Sandberg and Lotta Losten from Mångata.

Introduced in 2015, “Until Dawn” is a thrilling interactive horror video game where you join eight companions, some friends and some foes, as they gather at a secluded mountain lodge. The story unfolds amidst life-or-death situations involving a sinister murderer, man-eating wendigos, a treacherous cable car, and an ancient mining collapse that still echoes in the present. To survive the terrifying night, these characters must confront their fears together if they wish to emerge unscathed.

The screen adaptation’s approach to handling numerous storylines and possibilities remains uncertain, yet it’s been characterized as a chilling R-rated homage to horror, featuring a main cast of characters. Originally penned by Blair Butler is the draft for this project.

It’s not entirely clear who Mitchell and Cameli are portraying, but it’s rumored that as a nod to the original game, Stormare will be returning to his character, Dr. Hill the therapist.

“Sandberg shared his excitement about returning to horror, following his work on ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Annabelle: Creation’, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. He aims to craft the scariest experience imaginable by delving into various horror sub-categories. The film will embody the spirit of the game while introducing fresh characters, making it accessible for new viewers, yet offering something novel for fans of the game as well.”

Mitchell is primarily recognized for her extensive involvement in the Freeform drama series, “The Fosters,” and its spinoff, “Good Trouble,” where she also served as an executive producer. Her career took off with Disney Channel’s “Teen Beach” movies, and she recently completed filming the thriller, “Family Secrets,” which stars Eric Dane and Tyriq Withers.

Cameli was one of the stars of Peacock’s Saved by the Bell reboot and starred in Netflix’s YA drama Along for the Ride, which hailed from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before screenwriter Sofia Alvarez. He will next be seen in Barry Levinson’s mob film Alto Knights, which stars Robert De Niro and which Warner Bros. will release later this year.

Samuel L. Jackson, a seasoned actor with numerous roles under his belt, is arguably most recognized for his lively portrayal in the Coen brothers’ renowned film, “Fargo.” Notable performances extend to “Armageddon,” “The Big Lebowski,” and a run on “Prison Break.”

Mitchell is represented by William Morris Endeavor, Anonymous Content, and Myman Greenspan Law Firm. On the other hand, Camelli is managed by Stewart Talent Agency, Industry Entertainment, and Hansen, Jacobson Teller Hoberman & Newman LLP.
