As a seasoned watch collector with a penchant for luxury timepieces, I must say that Vacheron Constantin never fails to impress me with their innovative designs and impeccable craftsmanship. The latest additions to their Fiftysix collection and the Métiers d’Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac – Year of the Snake timepieces are no exception.
At Watches & Wonders Shanghai, Vacheron Constantin unveiled a new member in its Fiftysix collection, as well as timepieces themed for the approaching Year of the Snake during the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Fiftysix Self-Winding
The Fiftysix Self-Winding, enclosed within a 40mm pink gold case, embodies the timeless elegance of its design, blending modern and vintage elements. The dial, bathed in deep black, features an opaline center and sunburst edge that beautifully juxtaposes its golden hour markers, hands, and casing. As suggested by its title, this watch operates on an in-house self-winding mechanism, offering approximately 30 hours of power reserve. Lastly, a strap made from anthracite-colored nubuck calfskin leather finishes the timepiece.
Métiers d’Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac – Year of the Snake
Vacheron Constantin’s Year of the Snake model comes in two versions: one made with 18k pink gold and another with 950 platinum. The dial of each watch showcases a cobra resting on a rock bed, intricately crafted using Grand Feu enameling. Only 25 pieces are produced for each version, demonstrating Vacheron Constantin’s commitment to artisanal craftsmanship. 18k gold (either yellow or white) is used for the decorative details on the pink gold and platinum versions respectively. The heart of this watch is the self-manufactured caliber 2460 G4, offering a power reserve of 40 hours with an impressive 28,800 vibrations per hour.
