As a seasoned Vegas enthusiast with a soft spot for French cuisine and a knack for finding hidden gems, I wholeheartedly recommend Bouchon at The Venetian as my go-to restaurant in Sin City. The ambiance, service, and delectable dishes make it an exceptional escape from the bustling strip. Moules au safran, croque madame, and their crab benedict are just a few of the culinary delights that keep me coming back for more.
Your hidden-gem restaurant or bar in Vegas?
Every time I visit Las Vegas, I ensure to book a table at my all-time preferred spot: Bouchon, located on the 10th floor of the Venezia Tower at The Venetian. It’s Thomas Keller’s extraordinary French bistro idea that he transported from Napa to Vegas. I consistently revisit Bouchon as it offers a respite from the city’s chaos and the food is exceptional. Among my favorites are moules au safran (mussels cooked in saffron with white wine sauce and fries), croque madame, and their crab benedict.
In Vegas you have to….
To fully experience Las Vegas, you should explore various casinos and their lively environments, attend a spectacular show that leaves a lasting impression, and walk down the iconic Strip. This is particularly recommended if it’s your first visit to this vibrant city.
In Vegas, you should never….
Rule #1: Don’t bet any amount that you can’t afford to part with. If you reach your predetermined limit, quit for today and return tomorrow.
What’s the most accurate stereotype of Vegas, what’s the most inaccurate?
The most accurate stereotype of Vegas is, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”
The most inaccurate stereotype is that Vegas is just casinos and nightclubs. It’s so much more! Red Rock Canyon is nearby and I had one of my best hikes there.
What film or TV series gets (an aspect of) Vegas right?
Martin Scorsese’s crime drama masterpiece, Casino, authentically portrays the true essence of Las Vegas and hits the mark. To some extent, this can also be said about The Hangover – it’s a humorous, explicit, and wild escapade, though I’m grateful I haven’t lived through such an adventure myself! The film was filmed at Caesars Palace, which I’ve heard is easy to navigate.
Best place to experience the real Vegas?
For an authentic taste of Vegas, head to Fremont Street, nicknamed “Old Vegas.” This area is brimming with historical casinos like The Golden Nugget, as well as dazzling neon lights that illuminate the street. Notably, this fashionable locale was a popular haunt for the Rat Pack, gangsters, showgirls, and many more! Pedestrians are now welcome on Fremont Street, where you can explore attractions such as the Neon Museum and Mob Museum.
