As a dedicated follower of Indian cinema, I must say that Vijay Varma’s transformation from a budding actor to a versatile artist has been nothing short of remarkable. His ability to immerse himself into his roles and bring them to life on screen is truly commendable. However, it seems that this talent for portraying complex characters has had an unexpected impact on his personal life.
Vijay Varma became well-known for playing wicked characters in movies. Recently, he shared that these villainous roles have led some women to feel apprehensive around him, using the example of singer Sunidhi Chauhan asking him to keep his distance after watching the film Pink.
During a conversation at the grand launch of SCREEN in Mumbai, the Darlings actor shared that his negative roles had a significant impact, with people hating him because of the believable characters he portrayed on screen.
The actor who played Jaane Jaan also portrayed negative roles in Pink, Dahaad, and Darlings. In these roles, his characters committed serious crimes against women, leaving women scared of him in real life.
Speaking about his personal encounters, Vijay mentioned, “Many attractive women and their mothers have expressed fear towards me, which I found troubling. My portrayal of sinister characters in my work began with the character ‘Pink’.
Despite having a minor role in the movie, it left a substantial impact on the viewers. He recollected a notable event where he observed women appearing anxious during an exclusive female screening of his film Pink. Varma pointed out that the filmmakers had extended invitations to several prominent females from the entertainment world, including Sunidhi Chauhan.
Nevertheless, Sunidhi Chauhan, the singer herself, wept upon seeing the moving film. Reflecting on their encounter at the event, he shared, “I attempted to comfort Sunidhi Chauhan, but she responded, ‘Keep your distance from me. I’m extremely frightened of you.’ I was taken aback, saying, ‘Oh dear, what transpired just then?’
Initially, Vijay was taken aback by the public response. But moments later, his film director stepped aside to praise his acting skills. Concurrently, this actor has intentionally sought to alter audience opinions by portraying optimistic or multifaceted characters, such as Captain Devi Sharan, a brave and steadfast figure in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.
In terms of his professional life, Vijay Varma will soon appear in the movie titled “Ul Jalool Ishq,” which is helmed by Vibhi Puri. Notably, this film also features Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi in prominent roles. Additionally, he’s currently working on a series named “Matka King” alongside Kritika Kamra.
