When Karan Johar teased Anushka Sharma about Virat Kohli calling her ‘desh ki bahu’; ‘Itni badi ho gayi…’

As a lifestyle aficionado, I must say that Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli are undeniably one of the most cherished duos in Bollywood. Their relationship consistently sets the bar high when it comes to romantic ideals, causing quite a stir whenever they share affectionate moments together. To add fuel to the fire, their playful banter often ignites a whirlwind on social media.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit an amusing exchange between them and filmmaker Karan Johar, when he once teased Anushka by referring to her as ‘the daughter-in-law of the nation.’

In 2018, Anushka Sharma visited India’s Got Talent Season 8 to publicize her movie, Zero. Alongside her was Katrina Kaif, and Karan Johar graced the show as a guest. During their stint, they were quizzed on songs that starred their fellow actor Shah Rukh Khan.

During one round of the game, Karan Johar posed a question about a song with the words ‘behki hai nigaahein aur bikhre hai baal’. Anushka guessed Koi Mil Gaya from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, but it was Katrina who answered first. When Karan asked another question, Anushka began singing before Katrina could respond. This made Katrina feel she didn’t get a fair chance to answer.

In response to this, Katrina playfully said, “I made the most of it (seized the opportunity).” Noticing Anushka’s clever choice of words, Karan jokingly teased her since ‘chauka’ is also a term for hitting a four in cricket.

He remarked, “My daughter has grown quite big and started making cricket jokes. You’re the daughter-in-law of our nation, so we can’t say much about it,” leaving Anushka astonished.

After spending a period of time together as a couple, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli tied the knot at a private wedding ceremony held in Tuscany, Italy on the 11th of December, 2017. They have since become parents to two beautiful children, Vamika born in 2021 and Akaay born in 2024.

Currently, Anushka has taken a break from acting to concentrate on her personal affairs. Her last appearance was in the 2018 movie Zero, where she acted alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. This film was directed by Aanand L. Rai. However, there’s no news regarding the release of her upcoming biopic Chakda ‘Xpress, which portrays Jhulan Goswami’s life.
