Where Is Bob Weinstein? Brother of Harvey Answers the Question With Three New Films

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen countless productions come and go, each with its unique charm and quirks. Yet, the story of Bob Weinstein‘s new label, Watch This Entertainment, has piqued my interest more than most. Having grown up watching the golden age of Miramax and Dimension Films, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I anticipate the release of “Seven Cemeteries.

Over the last several years, Bob Weinstein has been stealthily establishing films under a fresh brand, Watch This Entertainment. On October 11th, the first movie produced under this label, titled “Seven Cemeteries“, will hit theaters and on-demand platforms, thanks to Quiver Distribution.

The film “Seven Cemeteries” premieres while Bob’s elder brother and previous business associate, Harvey Weinstein, is anticipating a re-trial of his 2020 rape conviction overturn, which occurred in April, and confronting a fresh sexual assault accusation in New York.

As a horror enthusiast, I recently stumbled upon “Seven Cemeteries,” a chilling masterpiece directed by John Gulager and produced by the dynamic duo, Joel Soisson and Talia Bella. In this thrilling tale, Danny Trejo portrays an ex-con hired to safeguard ranchers from a menacing drug lord. This film marks a triumphant comeback to the horror genre for Bob, who revolutionized it by founding Dimension Films back in 1992. Known for their profitable horror label under Miramax, they were the original breeding ground for the iconic “Scream” and “Scary Movie” franchises. Interestingly, Paramount, now the rights holder of Dimension’s pre-2005 films, experienced box office success with “Scream” sequels in 2022 and 2023, and is set to release a new “Scary Movie” film in 2025.

Seven Cemeteries is one of the three films that Bob has produced at Watch This Entertainment, a small company with five team members based in both New York City and Los Angeles. Pantea Ghaderi, a former publicity executive from The Weinstein Company, serves as the president of production and development for this company. Bob oversees the financial aspects, greenlights the scripts, and monitors films from their initial conception to post-production.

In the years following The Weinstein Company’s bankruptcy filing in 2018, Bob has embarked on new ventures, marking a return to work for him. While Harvey was known as the outgoing showman, attending red carpets and receiving accolades at the Oscars, Bob primarily worked behind the scenes, focusing on commercial projects. The allegations of multiple sexual assaults against Harvey in 2017 caused Bob to express that he was living a “nightmare” and believed the encounters were consensual between his brother and the women involved.

Back in 2019, when Bob unveiled his venture called Watch This Entertainment, Time’s Up criticized him for being complicit in his brother’s mistreatment of women. They stated bluntly that Bob had no right to manage anything at all, especially a new production company, considering there were still many survivors seeking justice from the past. However, it’s worth noting that Time’s Up is no longer operational.

As a gamer, I’ve got some exciting news! Apart from the chilling Seven Cemeteries, Watch This Entertainment has wrapped up production on Resurrection Road, a horrifying thriller steeped in the darkness of the Civil War. I’m currently on the hunt for distributors to bring this spine-tingling tale to life. Penned and helmed by Ashley Cahill, Resurrection Road features Malcolm Goodwin (known for his role in Reacher) and Michael Madsen. This film revolves around a Black squadron tasked with infiltrating a Confederate fort. Can’t wait to see it!

Bob’s name is not on Seven Cemeteries or Resurrection Road, but he is expected to take a producing credit on Bird Boy, a family adventure film currently in post-production, directed by Soisson and starring Tea Leoni and South African actor Tony Kgoroge. A synopsis describes that movie as, “In the vein of Free Willy… an inspirational story about a boy and an ostrich who change each other’s lives forever and teach each other the meaning of friendship.”
