The American conspiracy thriller series “The Night Agent,” created by Shawn Ryan and inspired by Matthew Quirk’s novel, has been one of Netflix’s biggest successes, with it being called one of the streaming platform’s six most-watched series ever at a certain point.
As a devoted viewer, I can’t help but express my admiration for “The Night Agent” on Netflix. This thrilling series, starring Gabriel Basso as FBI Special Agent Peter Sutherland, keeps me hooked as he races against time to expose a treacherous government conspiracy. The show’s compelling drama is what makes it impossible to resist binging – a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of its cast members.
Due to a large number of actors appearing in “The Night Agent” over its four seasons, this article will primarily focus on the careers and standout roles of the 15 series regulars. If you’re curious about where you might have recognized the principal cast members, here are some possible clues.
Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland
In the series, FBI agent Peter Sutherland is portrayed by Gabriel Basso, a U.S. actor who attributes its popularity to its escapist qualities. Notably, Basso gained his initial major role as Adam Jamison, the defiant son of character Cathy Jamison (played by Laura Linney), in Showtime’s “The Big C” from 2010 to 2013. During this period, he also had a significant part in J.J. Abrams’ film “Super 8,” portraying one of the teenage friends. Additionally, Basso was among the three main characters in Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ independent coming-of-age movie “The Kings of Summer,” alongside Nick Robinson and Moisés Arias.
Throughout the 2010s, Basso solidified his acting career with prominent roles in indie horror films such as “The Hive,” and secondary parts in movies like “Barely Lethal,” “Ithaca,” “American Wrestler: The Wizard,” and “The Whole Truth.” His visibility increased significantly in 2020 when he portrayed JD Vance, a well-known author and venture capitalist at that time, in the Netflix adaptation of Vance’s memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy,” directed by Ron Howard. He shared the screen with Amy Adams as Vance’s mother and Glenn Close as his grandmother. Recently, Basso has taken on supporting roles in “The Strangers: Chapter 1” and “Trigger Warning” and a more substantial part as suspect James Michael Sythe in Clint Eastwood’s “Juror #2.”

In this series, Buchanan portrayed Tripitaka, a character similar to the monk Tang Sanzang in the “Monkey” universe. Lately, she has taken on one of the principal roles in the New Zealand supernatural horror film “The Tank,” titled Jules.
