There’s a lot of talk surrounding Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy), who is currently standing trial in New York. At 55 years old, he is facing multiple federal charges, including sex-trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. As the trial progresses, there have been discussions about potential outcomes. If found guilty, it’s speculated that Combs might receive a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump, and his legal team is considering this possibility.
Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee has been quite acquainted with Diddy due to the multiple lawsuits he’s filed against the ex-hip hop magnate over the past few months. Recently, Buzbee spoke with Vulture about the ongoing court case and also discussed the possibility of Diddy receiving a presidential pardon, similar to some high-profile celebrities who have recently received one. When asked about this topic, Buzbee didn’t mince words in expressing his views.
From what I’ve gathered, Trump’s response suggests he’s well-informed about the ongoing situation. Among people of his age, I’ve yet to encounter anyone as aware of current events as him. It’s highly unlikely that Donald J. Trump will grant a pardon to P. Diddy. This might have been a trial balloon to gauge reactions, and indeed, the response was massive – TMZ and many others went wild. However, I can’t envision this scenario playing out.
Lately, President Trump was questioned about potentially pardoning Sean Combs, and he acknowledged that he hasn’t been closely monitoring the case. However, he didn’t dismiss the idea of a pardon outright. It’s worth mentioning that Trump recently granted clemency to the Chrisley couple, reality TV stars, as well as several other prominent figures. Notably, President Trump and Combs were once part of similar social circles in the past.
Following the president’s recent remarks, I, as a movie critic, find myself in agreement with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who has expressed his intent to intervene and prevent any potential pardon from being granted. Jackson alleges that Diddy, also known as Puff Daddy, made some highly critical comments about Trump, and he plans to bring this to the Commander in Chief’s attention. In light of Puff Daddy’s ongoing legal battles, 50 Cent has been vocal about his disapproval on several occasions and is even working on a docuseries that delves into the alleged missteps of the Sean John mogul.

Tony Buzbee has been vocal in his criticism of Sean Combs while standing up for his clients. The multiple lawsuits directed at Combs encompass a range of accusations, such as sexual assault, violence, and sex-trafficking. One of the suits filed by Buzbee pertained to a woman identified as Jane Doe who claimed that Diddy and Jay-Z raped her when she was underage in 2000. In the 2024 lawsuit, Jay-Z firmly denied these allegations, and by early 2025, all charges against him (the “Takeover” rapper) were dismissed.
Beyond the legal issues with Diddy, Tony Buzbee has also been entangled in another controversy involving a well-known celebrity. In April, Buzbee brought forward a case on behalf of a woman from Nevada, who leveled sexual assault, violent threats, and other allegations against sports analyst and ex-football player Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe refuted the claims and countered that Buzbee was orchestrating an extortion attempt, but he subsequently took a leave from his ESPN responsibilities.
P. Diddy’s trial isn’t over just yet; additional testimonies are still scheduled to be presented. If he is convicted on federal charges, he faces the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison. Hypothetically, President Trump has the power to pardon Diddy if he is not found guilty. However, whether or not Trump will exercise that option if the situation arises remains uncertain.
