This fact alone highlights the desire among fans for these titles to be playable on the current generation PlayStation consoles. Some are even willing to wait for a potential PlayStation 6.
Why hasn’t Sony properly ported these PS3 games?
On the PS3, the complex Cell processor was notorious for its difficulty in usage, causing prolonged development periods for specific games. To address this issue, Sony opted for less complicated yet more potent processors for their subsequent consoles, making it simpler for developers to adapt these new systems.
Due to the complexity of using this processor, Sony’s system frequently had fewer game ports in comparison at that time. Titles such as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Call of Duty, and Bayonetta, among others, were generally superior on Xbox 360 because developers found its processor more intuitive. However, developers eventually became more proficient with the PS3, even creating visually stunning games like Ni No Kuni. Yet, we can partially comprehend why Sony doesn’t focus on native game development for this reason.
