Breakdown
- Ubisoft’s free-to-play FPS XDefiant is a rapid success
- The new shooter already had 1 million unique players just two hours after launch
- This is the fastest growth ever for a Ubisoft game
As an avid gamer with years of experience in the FPS genre, I’m absolutely blown away by Ubisoft’s new free-to-play shooter, XDefiant. The hype surrounding this game was palpable, but I never expected it to break company records just hours after launch.
1) In an unprecedented milestone for Ubisoft, their recently launched first-person shooter, XDefiant, broke company records just 2.5 hours after its debut. This exciting new free-to-play game managed to draw in a massive 1 million unique players, establishing a remarkable achievement for the French gaming giant.
Instead of the free alternative to Call of Duty’s traditional deathmatch, XDefiant offers a distinctive gaming experience in a competitive market. Its innovative meta centered on the most effective weapons draws players to engage in its intense combat system with enthusiasm.
Based on reports from Insider Gaming, the game XDefiant surpassed one million players within hours of its release. However, this swift increase in player numbers led to several problems experienced by fans, such as server downtime and bugs that kept some players stuck at the main menu.
As a gamer immersed in XDefiant, I’ve got to admit that this game is making waves for Ubisoft, despite some hiccups along the way. What’s puzzling, though, is figuring out how many players are jumping on board with the game’s microtransactions and splurging on the pricey Founder’s Edition pack.
1. At its launch, XDefiant offers numerous maps, weapons, and class abilities. But we’ll see if this content will keep the game engaging after its release. Though it appears to gain more traction than Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones, whether it will be successful in the long run is still questionable.
As the anticipation builds for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with a teaser trailer and logo already released, Activision and Treyarch plan to officially introduce the upcoming CoD title during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase.
1. At present, you can play XDefiant on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as personal computers (PC). Regrettably, it’s not yet accessible on the previous-generation consoles like Xbox One and PlayStation 4; however, there are rumors that a version for these older systems is under development.
