It appears that T’Nia Miller has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Disney+ series titled “Vision Quest,” which is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and focuses on Paul Bettany’s character Vision. The show continues a narrative that started with “WandaVision” and was furthered by “Agatha All Along.” Terry Matalas, from “Star Trek: Picard,” is overseeing this series, and both Bettany and James Spader will be reprising their roles as Vision and Ultron respectively.
According to Deadline, T’Nia Miller, famed for her performances in ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’ and ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’, has been added to the cast of Marvel Television’s upcoming series ‘Vision’. It is rumored that she will portray Jocasta, an artificial intelligence created by Ultron, although this has not been officially confirmed by Marvel. Sources describe Jocasta as clever, powerful, and driven by a thirst for revenge, but it remains unclear whom she intends to avenge. Miller’s additional notable roles include appearances on ‘Foundation’, ‘Sex Education’, and ‘The Diplomat’.
Meet the MCU’s Newest Avenger
Originating from the pens of writer Jim Shooter and artist George Pérez, Jocasta made her debut in The Avengers #162 dated August 1977. Initially designed as a bride for Ultron, with the mental imprints of Janet Van Dyne / The Wasp serving as a model, Jocasta eventually turned against Ultron and joined the ranks of the Avengers temporarily. Previous references to Jocasta can be found in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where she was suggested as Tony Stark’s operating system following the transformation of J.A.R.V.I.S. into Vision; however, he ultimately opted for F.R.I.D.A.Y., voiced by Kerry Condon instead.
In the upcoming film Vision Quest, it appears plausible that Jocasta’s origins could remain consistent with her comic book counterpart, where Ultron creates her as his bride before she ultimately betrays him. However, since Janet Van Dyne in the MCU has no substantial connection to Ultron, who was revealed in Avengers: Age of Ultron to be Tony Stark’s creation instead of Hank Pym’s, it’s likely they will alter whose brain patterns Jocasta is based on. Initially, Jocasta could be an adversary to Vision, but eventually, she may turn against Ultron and become a new hero in the MCU, enriching the roster of characters that continue to drive the franchise forward.
Due to the postponements of “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Secret Wars,” it’s anticipated that “Vision Quest” will air before the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) cross-over movies. At present, “Vision Quest” is one of the last significant live-action MCU series in production, with “Ironheart” set for release in June, “Wonder Man” premiering in December 2025, and “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2 returning in April 2026. The future of the MCU Disney+ series is uncertain, but given that “WandaVision” began in January 2021, “Vision Quest” could serve as a fitting conclusion to a television era it started.
