Every memorable action hero is known for their signature catchphrase, and in my opinion, John McClane from Die Hard, portrayed by Bruce Willis, possesses the undisputed best. Frankly, I can’t think of another line that gets me as pumped as shouting, “Yippee-ki-yay, you bastard!
Indeed, it’s such a relief that “this” is the famous catchphrase from the 1988 action masterpiece (and one of the greatest Christmas movies, regardless of personal opinions), rather than a significantly less impressive alternative that was considered during filming. Before we delve into the crucial “Die Hard” detail that could have dramatically altered the destiny of this blockbuster series, let me first elucidate the origin of the movie’s legendary quote.

In each Die Hard film, John McClane says “Yippee-ki-yay, [expletive]!” This is usually said after or just before overpowering the main villain.
