You Won’t Believe What’s BACK in Kingpin’s Latest MCU Appearance

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about Kingpin’s comeback in “Daredevil: Born Again.” What makes this return particularly thrilling is that Marvel has gracefully added an essential trait missing from his last two MCU appearances. In Netflix’s “Daredevil,” Vincent D’Onofrio breathed life into a chilling portrayal of Kingpin, showcasing him as a ruthless crime lord without an ounce of regret when causing pain or taking lives of those who dared to cross his path. This version of Fisk has earned a fearsome reputation in Marvel Comics for his brutal strength and feuds with numerous heroes, but the Netflix adaptation successfully scared a whole new generation of viewers.

The Netflix show Daredevil may have hinted at connections with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but it wasn’t explicitly part of it. Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, first appeared in the MCU in 2021’s Hawkeye, but it was uncertain if this was the same character or a new version. However, subsequent developments and the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again have confirmed that the Netflix and MCU versions of Kingpin are one and the same. This created some confusion earlier, as his portrayal in the initial MCU releases lacked the violence and ruthlessness he had in the Netflix series. However, Born Again promises to bring back this intensity that was missing from his recent appearances.

Hawkeye And Echo Made The MCU’s Kingpin Seem More Vulnerable Than Netflix’s

In the show “Hawkeye“, Wilson Fisk maintains his fearsome image as a powerful and menacing businessman. He collaborates with Kate Bishop’s mother, who is visibly apprehensive about defying Fisk in any manner. However, contrary to expectations, Fisk fails to live up to his formidable reputation within this series, ultimately being bested by Kate in a one-on-one confrontation. Despite not being able to match his brute force, Kate outsmarts him by rigging her arrows with explosives, rendering him unconscious. This strategy proves effective, but it’s debatable whether an inexperienced vigilante should have been able to overpower Kingpin so effortlessly.

After their altercation, Kingpin gets hit in the eye by Maya. Despite this wound, he manages to survive in this series and reappears in Echo. However, Echo delves into Kingpin’s more fragile aspects, investigating his attempts to reconcile with his former protege. The narrative primarily revolves around his unsuccessful efforts to lure her back, highlighting his struggle to face his past. In the final episode of Echo, Maya delves deep into Kingpin’s mind with her powers, but he seems unable to confront his past when faced with this scrutiny. As a result, he retreats from the confrontation and appears to abandon the pursuit of Maya.

Daredevil: Born Again’s Finale Reestablished Wilson Fisk As A Powerful, Brutal Villain

As a passionate film enthusiast, I found myself engrossed in “Daredevil: Born Again,” where Wilson Fisk, initially serving as New York City’s mayor, endeavored to make a difference through legitimate channels. He aimed to help citizens and uphold the law. However, the intricacies of bureaucracy soon wore him down, igniting within him a longing for his former dominance. The torment and imprisonment of Vanessa’s ex-lover, Adam, marked only the beginning of his descent into darkness.

In the climax of the first season of “Daredevil: Born Again,” Kingpin’s method of killing Commissioner Gallo stands out as the most gruesome death in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it matches the startling execution in the Netflix series where Kingpin beheads someone using a car door. It’s hard not to feel fear after witnessing Gallo’s demise, given that Kingpin now has control over the police force. I’m excited that Marvel is once again emphasizing Kingpin’s intimidating nature, and I can hardly wait to see how Daredevil and his allies confront Kingpin in “Daredevil: Born Again” season 2.
