As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for both digital and real-world timepieces, I must say that the Zenith Defy Skyline C.X Edition has caught my attention like no other. Coming from someone who’s spent countless hours navigating the vast cosmic expanses in space games, this watch with its starry sky pattern dial resonates deeply.
Zenith and Collective Horology have joined forces yet again to reveal a restricted-edition watch, christened as the Defy Skyline C.X Edition. This latest joint venture offers a modern twist on Zenith’s iconic design, adopting a streamlined, “more is less” aesthetic.
This modern timepiece is designed with inspiration from 20th-century industrial style. It sports a monochrome appearance, as its case, bezel, and dial are all coated in a matte silvery-gray finish. With dimensions of 41mm, this durable watch is made from stainless steel. The dial showcases an iconic starry night pattern, along with a small second hand, lume-filled hour and minute hands, and indices.
The intricate El Primero 3620 SK Manufacture movement can be seen clearly through the transparent back cover. This mechanism features a unique star-shaped rotor, beating at an impressive speed of 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph), and boasts a substantial power reserve of 55 hours.
The C.X Editions, much like the consistent Defy Skyline, offers a swap-able band mechanism for versatility. It includes a stainless steel band as its main choice and provides an extra vibrant orange rubber band as well.
The Defy Skyline C.X Edition, priced at $12,300 USD and limited to just 200 pieces, will initially be offered for sale on Zenith’s online store and Collective Horology. From December 19th, it can also be bought from Zenith’s physical stores.
