Zenless Zone Zero 1.7 Banners: New Characters, W-Engines, and Bangboos

As an ardent fan, I can’t help but get excited about the impending arrival of Zenless Zone Zero‘s 1.7 update, titled “Bury Your Tears With the Past.” Joining Phaeton in this new journey are Vivian and Hugo Vlad, characters that are sure to add an extra layer of intrigue to the narrative. With a world as captivating as New Eridu, I can only imagine the intensity that awaits us in the upcoming chapters. Truly, this is something we can all eagerly anticipate!

In the style of typical gacha game updates, most players are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to draw fresh and returning characters along with their W-Engines. Additionally, they can aim to fully enhance the cinemas of their A-Rank characters, and collect new Bangboos for combat assistance. These banners will start rolling out from April 23, 2025.

Upcoming Zenless Zone Zero Banners

In each update of Zenless Zone Zero, there are two distinct stages, or phases. Here’s a look at the upcoming promotional banners for these Phases 1 and 2, which highlight the top-tier characters (A-Rank), W-Engines, and Bangboos.

Phase 1 – Vivian

In the initial stage, we’ll introduce one of the latest playable characters, Vivian. She’s an S-Rank Ether Anomaly character who wields her parasol in combat against adversaries. Vivian belongs to the Mockingbird gang within the game, a notorious band of thieves operating in New Eridu.

During the prime time of Vivian’s gameplay, the distinctive weapon “Flight of Fancy,” known as her Signature W-Engine, can likewise be obtained by players through a draw.

Phase 1 – Jane Doe

In Phase 1, Jane Doe will appear prominently on the advertisement for Zenless Zone Zero version 1.7. She’s an elite character with S-Rank Physical Anomalies, specializing in slashing attacks. In her professional life, she serves as a consultant for the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team, a unit falling under the New Eridu Public Security department.

As an eager admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the iconic “Sharpened Stinger” – my signature W-Engine – will once again grace the battlefield during the replay of this incredible weapon. For those who may have missed its initial debut, this is your chance to experience its unparalleled power!

Phase 2 – Hugo Vlad

In version 1.7, the second fresh character introduced is Hugo Vlad. He’s a notable figure within the Mockingbird group and was once a friend of Lycaon, although their relationship later transformed into a rivalry. Hugo holds an S-Rank in Ice Attack abilities and wields a scythe to vent his wrath upon his adversaries.

The Myriad Eclipse W-Engine, his signature, will likewise be accessible when he’s teamed up with top-tier characters.

Phase 2 – Lighter

At the same time as Hugo, the renowned figure known as the “Red Scarf,” or the Champion of Sons of Calydon, will make his reappearance. This S-Rank Fire Stun character wields a gauntlet in combat against adversaries hailing from the Hollow.

During his re-run, his Signature W-Engine “Blazing Laurel” banner will also be available.

New Bangboos

In Zenless Zone Zero version 1.7, we’ll be introducing two fresh Bangboos: the S-Rank Bangboo known as Robin (which is Hugo’s Bangboo), and the A-Rank Bangboo called Overtimeboo. While Robin has been seen in a previous event within ZZZ, the specific abilities of these newcomers remain undiscovered at this point.

Who should you pull for?

In the update of Zenless Zone Zero version 1.7, there are four characters to pick from, making it challenging to know which one to invest your hard-earned Polychromes in, especially for those who play without spending money.

If you currently use Miyabi as your in-game anomaly character and don’t have any other anomaly characters like Burnice, it might be beneficial to add Vivian to your team. While she appears to primarily function off the field, enhancing the damage output of other characters, I suspect that her full capabilities will become more versatile once her complete set of abilities is revealed upon release.

According to what we know about Hugo’s abilities, he would be a valuable new member on the Ice DPS team. For optimal performance, pair him with characters who can stun enemies like Lycaon, Lighter, or high-ranking agents such as Anby. If you don’t currently have Miyabi or Ellen, it might be worth considering adding Hugo to your roster by pulling for him.

In the heat of this epic game, I used to shine as a formidable damage dealer in the early stages. However, it seems like the Anomaly characters are outpacing me quite rapidly now. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still packing a punch overall, but I need plenty of game time to truly make an impact. If you already have Burnice or someone comparable, then by all means, consider adding me to your team.

In the update 1.7 of Zenless Zone Zero, Lighter will make a return alongside Hugo’s emblem. He is a Fire Stun character, renowned as the top Stunner for DPS characters like Evelyn and Miyabi (having another Fire or Sons of Calydon character in your team would be beneficial). Lighter can work well with Hugo because his stuns help activate Hugo’s Core Passive. If you’re aiming to boost Evelyn, definitely consider adding Lighter to your team.

In the end, it’s up to you to choose which character you’d like to use your valuable Polychromes for. This decision could be influenced by personal preferences such as the character’s design or aesthetic appeal, their abilities, or if they align with the current strategy (meta) of the game.
