Ever since it first appeared in 1954, this franchise has produced a total of 38 movies up to now, and the vast majority of them are in Japanese. A particularly successful one among these is the 2016 release titled “Shin Godzilla“.
The movie named “Shin Godzilla” was created by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi. Anno handled the screenplay, while Higuchi took care of the visual effects. This film premiered in Japan on July 29, 2016, receiving positive reviews from critics. As reported, Gkids has obtained the distribution rights for North America, and the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on August 14. A home release will follow at a later date.
Shin Godzilla’s premiere will feature the original Japanese dialogue, accompanied by English subtitles. Additionally, this version of the film is a 4K remaster that has yet to be shown in the United States.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about “Shin Godzilla,” a remarkable addition to the Godzilla franchise. This isn’t just any ordinary number 31; it’s a testament to the enduring legacy of this iconic creature. For Toho, it was not only the 29th film in their series but also their third reboot. And here’s the fascinating part: It’s the first reboot in the Reiwa era, an era that has already given us the critically acclaimed “Godzilla Minus One,” which earned an Oscar in 2003.
