‘10 Things I Hate About You’ Director Says He’s Developing a Follow-Up Movie

Another 10 Things I Hate About You is coming.

Gil Junger, the director of a popular romantic comedy, has shared with People magazine his plans to create a sequel for the original film, collaborating with producer Andrew Lazar on the project. Junger is also working on the script alongside Naya Elle James and they have some intriguing concepts in mind to expand the story into a trilogy. The first installment will be titled “10 Things I Hate About Dating,” followed by “10 Things I Hate About Marriage” and “10 Things I Hate About Kids.

Junger confirmed that the movie adaptation of ‘10 Things I Hate About Dating‘ is indeed being created. They are currently working on its development.

In 1999, I found myself playing Patrick opposite Julia Stiles as Kat in a movie yet to be officially approved. If given the chance, I’d leap at the opportunity to collaborate with Julia once more. She wasn’t just an actress; she was a beacon for millions of young women. The character of Kat struck a chord that resonated deeply within them, empowering and inspiring a generation.

Additionally, Junger expressed his wish for some of the original cast members to have cameos or larger roles, provided they felt comfortable with it. Regrettably, the movie’s main star, Ledger, passed away in 2008. Prior to his death, Junger had planned to give Ledger a different sequel to reprise his role as Patrick. In an interview with People, Junger stated, “I believe that’s a wonderful concept, and the response is now affirmative.” He added, “He deserves our admiration.

Additionally, a stage adaptation of “10 Things I Hate About You” is being developed for Broadway. This musical will feature music by Carly Rae Jepsen, known for her hit “Call Me Maybe”, and Ethan Gruska. The script is being written by Lena Dunham, creator and star of “Girls“, and Jessica Huang. Mike Bosner will produce the show alongside Buena Vista Theatrical.
