100 Days and Agni Sakshi director Partho Ghosh succumbs to heart attack at the age of 75

On June 9, filmmaker Partho Ghosh unexpectedly passed away at the age of 75. Recognized for directing numerous influential films in Indian cinema, this esteemed director sadly took his last breath. Reports indicate that a heart attack on Monday morning was the cause of his death. Mr. Ghosh resided on Madh Island, Mumbai, and is mourned by his wife, Gouri Ghosh. As reported by India Today, actress Rituparna Sengupta verified the tragic news of his passing.

Hailing from Kolkata on June 8, 1949, Partho nurtured a strong affinity for literature, art, and music since childhood. His enthusiasm for art and cinema propelled him into the film industry, and it was in 1985 that Partho Ghosh embarked on his career as an assistant director in Bengali movies.

Over time, he earned considerable acclaim due to his dedication and skill. Upon shifting to Hindi films, “100 Days” marked a significant milestone in his professional journey. This film, which co-starred Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff, turned out to be a gripping suspense thriller. Its premiere received favorable critic reviews.

100 Days (directed by Partho Ghosh) was a Hindi movie that followed the Tamil film Noorvathu Naal and garnered positive responses from viewers. This film played a significant role in establishing Ghosh’s reputation as a director, serving as one of the key milestones in his career. In 1992, it premiered with Divya Bharti and Avinash Wadhawan in leading roles. Yet, he elevated his success by helming Dalaal (released in 1993) starring Mithun Chakraborty, further demonstrating exceptional directorial skills.
