As a seasoned pop culture enthusiast who’s been through more than a few TikTok crazes and Netflix binges, I can confidently say that 2023 was quite the year for unique merchandise tie-ins! From the intimidating esophagus-blocking ball of death, the Gum Gum Devil Fruit Gummy, to the Berries and Cream Creamer that makes coffee taste like roasted cheesecake, it seems our favorite shows have taken over our kitchens as well.
“Hey Netflix, can you send me all your snacks?” I asked.
It turned out I had underestimated the extent of Netflix’s snack and drink offerings, both in the U.S. and internationally. They aim to let fans immerse themselves further into their favorite shows by providing a variety of branded goods. However, the abundance of these snacks soon became overwhelming, as one delivery person after another dropped off packages at my doorstep, flooding me with boxes much like Hogwarts’ endless acceptance letters. Fortunately, some of Netflix’s limited-time promotional items were out of stock, and I didn’t receive the pricier, exclusive items such as the $59 “Bridgerton” Floral Petit mascarpone mini-cakes.
Nevertheless, I managed to explore the internet’s feedback on the streamer’s wide range of food and drink partnerships, having tried some of those products myself.
As a dedicated Netflix enthusiast who has spent countless hours binging their captivating shows, I’ve had the unique opportunity to sample a variety of their official snacks over the years. In my humble opinion, these treats can be ranked, from most likely to trigger a marathon viewing session to least likely, based on their binge-inducing potential.
1. Netflix Now Popping popcorn
Just finished devouring the new line of Cult Classic Cheddar Kettle and Swoonworthy Cinnamon Kettle chips! It’s like I’m a post-apocalyptic survivor, stumbling upon these in an underground shelter from “Leave the World Behind”. Can’t stop munching!
2. Ben and Jerry’s Netflix & Chill’d Ice Cream
Introduced four years back, the Netflix & Chill’d peanut butter and pretzel ice cream remains on the menu for you to savor during your date with a match from Tinder (Lactaid is sold separately if needed).
3. Bridgerton Williams Sonoma Collection
If you find yourself envious of the opulent lifestyle displayed in Bridgerton, now you can experience a similar sense of luxury while perusing an assortment of snack foods. Although some items from the show’s extravagant and mouth-watering Williams Sonoma collection are budget-friendly, they maintain an air of high society – for example, priced at $49, the rice crispy treats adorned with a crown, or the $349 picnic basket to transport them.
4. Love is Blind‘s Love is Wine
Nearly all stocked items remaining. After several sips of this captivating chardonnay, you might find yourself believing you resemble Megan Fox.
5. Stranger Things Scoops Ahoy assorted ice creams
Featuring an array of tantalizing flavors including The Void and Cinnamon Bun Bytes, these ice creams are incredibly tasty and can be found quite easily. However, the score may drop slightly since Joe Kerry and Maya Hawke aren’t present to personally serve each scoop.
6. Stranger Things Surfer Boy Pizza
Fans, who had become excited about the unique toppings such as pineapple jalapeño and BBQ chicken (and gained popularity on TikTok), flipped Walmart stores in search of them. Unfortunately, a time machine is required to travel to 2023 to find any remaining.
7. One Piece Gum Gum Devil Fruit Gummy
Contrary to the “devil fruits” portrayed in the show, this item doesn’t grant superpowers, instead resembling a formidable, potentially choking ball that could be fatal for an esophagus. However, it was swiftly purchased in its entire stock at FYE stores.
8. Bridgerton Republic of Tea, Assorted Flavors
These beverages are readily accessible, boasting various flavors that are associated with distinct characters such as Eloise’s Lemon Mint Black Tea and Francesca’s Rose Chamomile tea. Interestingly, the Ginger Peach Vanilla drink by Colin and Penelope requires consumption over three seasons to reveal its taste.
9. Stranger Things 3D Crunch Three Cheese Doritos
These items are no longer available, however, a reviewer on YouTube, seated in his vehicle, expressed: “Quite cheese-like. They’re decent. Remind you of a Cheeto. Surprisingly like a standard Dorito. Not bad.”
