Spencer Dutton (played by Brandon Sklenar) endured another tough day in his ongoing journey back to Montana in the upcoming finale of “1923” Season 2. It’s not confirmed if this will be the last season of the hit spin-off from “Yellowstone,” created by Taylor Sheridan, but fans can look forward to a two-hour episode wrapping up Season 2 on April 6.
In the last episode of “1923” Season 2, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, it will be twice as long as the other episodes this year. However, with so many storylines left untied if this were indeed the series finale for the well-loved Yellowstone spin-off, fans can only hope to see Spencer reunited with Alex, a reunion that’s been seven episodes in the making since Season 1. Despite the extended length of the finale, it seems that time may not be on the side of “1923” if the spin-off is to wrap up in a satisfying manner, as suggested by Taylor Sheridan’s previous work.
Jacob Dutton (played by Harrison Ford) needs to safely retrieve his nephew at the train station within the timeframe of a two-hour episode, which seems insufficient for Spencer to return home and resolve the escalating conflict between their family and the cunning antagonist Donald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton) and his assistant Banner (Jerome Flynn). The storylines for Alex also require her to navigate through a treacherous winter landscape, while Teonna’s (Aminah Nieves) narrative remains unresolved, as she shares the same last name as the Rainwater family, suggesting a future connection with the Dutton clan.
Brandon Sklenar Always Knew How ‘1923’ Season 2 Would End
1923’s future may be undisclosed at present, but its star Brandon Sklenar is confident that the Yellowstone spin-off will carry on in some capacity, whether it’s not yet confirmed for Season 3 or another form. The final episode, titled “The Mountain Teeth of Monsters,” concluded numerous storylines after the surprising demises within 1923’s characters.
In the meantime, Spencer managed to stay unhurt and moved nearer to Montana, a fact that didn’t catch Sklenar off guard. Interestingly, creator Taylor Sheridan had previously informed actor Sklenar about how Season 2 would conclude, even before the filming of Season 1 had started. In an interview with THR, Sklenar shared this intriguing detail.
Although it’s uncertain if the series will conclude with Season 2, I had a sense before filming Season 1 about its ultimate direction. The creator hinted at it, not revealing the specifics, but giving me a general idea. I’ve always been aware to some extent how it would end in Season 2. It was intriguing to know where Spencer should be emotionally and physically, and to suggest those states in Season 1 without delving into them directly.
In a clever game of cat-and-mouse, you’re subtly revealing hidden secrets much like a skilled magician unveiling a mystery piece by piece. The audience gets tantalizing glimpses into fascinating realms, yet the full picture remains elusive because there are still some surprises to savor. It was an absolute delight to immerse myself in these episodes and accompany Spencer on his exciting journeys to intriguing locations.
On Sunday, April 6th, catch the climactic two-hour episode of 1923 exclusively on Paramount+. It’s still uncertain whether Spencer Dutton’s heroic saga will reach its end, but actor Brandon Sklenar continues his busy Hollywood career. For his upcoming project, he switches gears to the big screen, co-starring with Meghann Fahy in Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s quirky thriller, Drop. This highly anticipated film, earning a 4/5 star rating from MovieWeb, hits theaters on April 11th.
