Celebrating its second anniversary, the thrilling series Farzi starring Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi, directed by Raj & DK, is marking its milestone. Released in 2023, this gripping show unfolds a tale where chaos ensues when a young man creates counterfeit money. Although some speculate that the plot was influenced by the unexpected demonetization event of 2016, it’s worth noting that the creators had already conceived the concept prior to its occurrence.

In an earlier interview with CNN-News 18, DK disclosed that they drafted the script for Farzi intending to turn it into a movie. They also had a key plot idea concerning demonetization, which eventually occurred in 2016, before it actually did.

In a recent disclosure, DK admitted that when they were writing the script, there was a scene in which Vijay’s character proposed a solution to combat counterfeiting. The idea was that with so many fake notes in circulation, the only way to overcome it was… We hadn’t used the term demonetization at the time, as we didn’t understand its meaning. Instead, we wrote about rendering the existing Rs 500 note useless.

In simpler terms, The creator shared that a key part of their storyline was to render all fake money useless and vanish it. Interestingly, after the real-life event of demonetization occurred, the director received numerous calls from people who had read their script, remarking that what they wrote actually happened.

Based on his statement, because the event occurred in reality before they wrote it, they needed to modify their storyline in the script. Essentially, what they had imagined and written about, later transpired in real life.

This morning, on a notable event, Raj and DK took to their Instagram account to celebrate the show’s second anniversary with a special post. The caption accompanying the post read, “Sometimes, hard work in a fraudulent endeavor exceeds genuine effort. Currently, the hard work is paying off 🙂 Happy #Farzi Day!
