Upon dialing the number, Frankie arrives with his entourage, but with him comes a whirlwind of unending festivities and the ominous warning of potential abduction by Munch, the ruler of his planet, who despises Freako’s ways.

’80s Horror and Fantasy Gets Mashed Up

In a blend of styles, the character Frankie Freako traverses the boundaries between fantasy, horror, and comedy genres. The film is filled with elements reminiscent of both ghastly creatures like Ghoulies and mischievous critters such as Gremlins. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t a movie suitable for all audiences due to its graphic violence and adult humor.

8 ‘Sasquatch Sunset’

Titled “Year Among the Sasquatch,” this work chronicles the lives of four elusive creatures known as Sasquatch over the course of a year. It offers glimpses into their daily routines, encompassing activities such as food gathering and mating, as well as the hurdles they encounter during each season. Keeping Up with the Cryptids

This David and Nathan Zellner film, primarily devoid of dialogue, guides viewers on a dreamlike expedition, following the lives of Sasquatch family members as they adapt to shifting surroundings. Although it delves into the absurd, the movie surprisingly brims with emotion and wit that may not be immediately apparent.

11-year-old Orion has a profound dread of darkness, causing him to become anxious during a power outage at home. This situation seems to provoke Night, or Darkness, into appearing and interacting with the boy, apparently fed up with his frequent apprehensions and disparaging comments. During this adventure, Dark takes Orion on a journey where they encounter various nighttime characters such as Sleep, Sleeplessness, Quietude, Mysterious Sounds, and Sweet Dreams. Gradually, Orion learns to conquer his fear of the night, but in doing so, he angers “Light,” who then retaliates against both Dark and Orion.

Overcoming the Fear of the Dark

One fascinating movie, titled “Orion and the Night’s Embrace“, skillfully tackles a common fear children experience while keeping adults engaged. It’s a visual feast, boasting imaginative direction that invites viewers to immerse themselves in Orion’s magical odyssey through the night, populated by various characters symbolizing the cosmos. Just like other excellent family fantasy films, this movie masterfully blends emotional depth, humor, and excitement. Catch “Orion and The Night’s Embrace” on Netflix.

However, things begin to shift when she encounters an enigmatic individual known as “Bird.” Bird gradually becomes integrated into Bailey’s life; yet, his peculiar actions lead the young girl to suspect that her new acquaintance might be unlike anyone she has ever met before.

A Poignant Drama

The film “Bird” beautifully embodies the essence of magical realism, seamlessly merging fantasy and reality to delve deeply into the complexities of a difficult childhood. Simultaneously, it vividly portrays the harsh realities of poverty and the struggles associated with such a life. Unlike other fantasy films that offer an escape, “Bird” is firmly rooted in raw realism. Top-notch performances and a satisfying conclusion make Andrea Arnold’s film a must-watch for both enthusiasts of fantasy cinema and cinephiles in general.

2 ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’

Read our Review

Thirty years after Tim Burton’s 1988 film, “Beetlejuice,” the story continues with Lydia Deetz, now an adult and host of a supernatural radio show, as well as a mother. Her daughter, Astrid, uncovers her own psychic abilities and encounters a mischievous spirit, who manipulates her into bringing him back. This, in turn, prompts Lydia to seek Beetlejuice’s aid again, to handle the pesky ghost.

A Sequel Decades in the Making

In this remake, the sense of nostalgia is palpable; however, it may not quite reach the heights of the original film. Still, there are many delightful aspects to appreciate in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”. The reappearance of Michael Keaton as the lead ghost character, joined once again by Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, offers a charming throwback, with each actor seamlessly recapturing their original energy.

In “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the darkly humorous moments and imaginative setting were prominently showcased. Although it might not be Tim Burton’s finest work, it undeniably attracted crowds to the cinemas and functioned as an affectionate tribute to the ’80s original classic.
