As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of industry experience, I must say that the news about the sequel to “28 Years Later” titled “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” is both intriguing and slightly perplexing. While I hold Danny Boyle in high regard for his work on the original film, I am eager to see what fresh perspective Nia DaCosta will bring to the table.
After a long wait, the movie 28 Years Later, which isn’t due for release until July 2023, already has a sequel scheduled for January 16, 2026, over Martin Luther King weekend. Entitled 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the sequel remains enveloped in secrecy, but it is known that Danny Boyle won’t be at the helm this time. Instead, Nia DaCosta will direct Alex Garland’s script. The producers for the project are Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernard Bellew. Cillian Murphy is serving as an executive producer (and there’s speculation that he might reprise his role as a zombie).
This is a developing story and will be updated shortly.
