Forty-one years have passed since Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh made their debut together in the romantic saga ‘Betaab’, a film that continues to resonate with audiences even today.
41 years ago today, I made my remarkable cinematic introduction alongside Amrita Singh in the film Betaab (1983). This romantic epic, brilliantly penned by Javed Akhtar under the guidance of Rahul Rawail, was one of the biggest hits of its time and ended up being the second highest grossing film of 1983. I can’t help but feel elated as we celebrate this milestone anniversary!
Title character, Betaab, centers on two youths who develop affection despite their families’ social disparity. Actor recently posted a nostalgic throwback movie clip on Instagram, featuring scenes from the film and the memorable tune “Jab Hum Jawan Honge” echoing in the backdrop. Regarding work updates, TopMob exclusively unveiled that Sunny Deol’s upcoming film with Gopichand Malineni will be known as “Jatt.” This movie, produced by Mythri Productions, is scheduled to premiere in the latter part of 2025. Notably, Sunny Deol has completed shooting for Lahore: 1947, a project directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and financed by Aamir Khan.
According to our source, Sunny Deol is planning to complete his current movie’s shoot by around early September. After that, he intends to move on to working on Ramayana and Border 2 projects. He’s also negotiating and considering the schedules for director Abbas Mustan’s upcoming film. It’s not certain yet if Deol will appear in Gadar 3, as it has already been announced but his involvement is undecided at this point.
In 2023, Gadar 2 was a massive success, featuring actors like Ameesha Patel, Utkarsh Sharma, and Simrat Kaur. This film, directed by Anil Sharma, became the eighth highest-grossing Hindi movie ever made.
While Amrita Singh’s recent appearances were in Heropanti 2, her daughter Sara Ali Khan is currently busy signing multiple projects. Soon, she will appear in the movie Metro… Dino alongside Aditya Roy Kapur, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
