Explore this link to discover which Monster Hunter creatures could seamlessly join the Pokémon world, enhancing its appeal further.
In contrast to Pokémon, the art style within the Monster Hunter universe presents a distinctly different perspective on its monster-centric themes. While both series share a common focus on creatures, they approach them in significantly dissimilar ways. The monsters in Monster Hunter Universe are portrayed with a much grittier and intense style compared to Pokémon, which maintains a more lighthearted and playful tone towards its beastly inhabitants. Nevertheless, integrating some creatures from the Monster Hunter franchise can be challenging but not impossible.

All Monster Hunter Monsters in the Pokemon Universe
Pocket” and “Monster,” translating to “pocket monster” in English. Essentially, these pocket monsters can be caught using Pokeballs and kept with you like real-world pets, although they resemble cute animals. While many Monster Hunter creatures might not suit the Pokemon universe, we’ve made an effort to incorporate those that do fit well. The names of these included creatures are as follows:
- Palico
- Palamute
- Wulg
- Genprey
- Izuchi
To optimize your enjoyment, consider visualizing each character in a cartoonish style similar to that used in Pokemon. Additionally, for more insight into why each entry appears on the list, continue reading below.
1. Palico
In the Pokemon world, if you prefer cats as companions, there’s a variety to choose from. However, we believe nothing compares to having a Palico by your side. These charming feline beings hail from the Monster Hunter universe and exhibit an almost constant playful attitude. What makes them even more endearing is their ability to walk on two legs.
In the Pokemon world, if you like cats, there are many options to pick from. But we think having a Palico as your companion is the best choice. These cute feline creatures from Monster Hunter are always playful and can even walk on two feet, making them extra adorable.
Additionally, these Palicos prove incredibly beneficial in Monster Hunter (MH), and they’ll undoubtedly serve the same purpose for a Pokémon Trainer. Equipped with the ability to assault enemies, revive allies, collect resources, momentarily incapacitate assailants, and even enhance teammates, Palicos truly excel in their assistance.
2. Palamute
Instead of cat lovers, if you’re more a dog person, we’ve got something exciting for you! The MHU (Monster Hunter Universe) is home to some amazing canine creatures known as Palamutes. These are intelligent, canine-like species within the franchise that are incredibly helpful to the Hunter. Unlike their feline counterparts, the Palico, Palamutes aren’t bipedal, but they share traits similar to dogs, such as loyalty and intelligence.
It’s more advantageous that you can hop on them to reach destinations that appear distant on the map, thus sparing you travel time! Due to their devotion, they’ll stand by your side during conflicts, providing support by defending you and striking foes.

3. Wulg
Although things may seem a bit more challenging ahead, we encourage you to maintain your creative perspective as you explore the remaining creatures on the list, viewing them much like Pokemon. Moving forward, let’s discuss our third pick: the Wulg. In the wild, a Wulg will resemble a wolf in appearance. They are renowned for their swiftness, agility, strategic group behavior, and powerful teeth and claws that can cause harm to their adversaries.
It seems to me that, due to their looks, they could make excellent Dark/Ghost-type Pokemon. However, they may not match up to a Palamute when it comes to companionship as a pet dog. Yet, they remain valuable additions to your Pokeball collection, ready for use whenever assistance is needed.
4. Genprey
Ever pondered what a Pokemon version of a raptor might resemble? Well, let me tell you about Genprey – it’s the embodiment of your curiosity! These critters carry an air of ancient mystery reminiscent of the smaller creatures found in Monster Hunter. They aren’t strictly reptilian nor avian, which makes them the ideal candidate to embody characteristics akin to dinosaurs.
These beings boast sleek bodies and wickedly sharp claws that can deal quite a blow to adversaries. Their nature is rather fierce, and they’re known to be aggressive, making them formidable opponents. To top it off, they often hunt in groups!
If a Pokemon trainer comes across multiple creatures in the wild, they’d first need to separate one Genprey before attempting to catch it.
5. Izuchi
If you appreciate the design of raptors, you’d find Izuchi equally fascinating. In many ways, they resemble Genprey, but with some notable differences – think of Izuchi as an improved version of Genprey. What sets Izuchi apart is their stunning appearance, characterized by a mix of brown and white fur on their bodies, contrasting sharply with fewer scales compared to Genprey. They are often spotted in groups, with the Great Izuchi taking the lead.
In the wild, Izuchi tend to be quite protective and confrontational. Typically, they’ll stand up for their leader if threatened by a Hunter. Consequently, catching these regal-looking creatures in the Pokémon world will prove challenging again.
