7 Hidden Avengers Storylines That Deserve More Love in the MCU!

Since their debut, these films have made a concerted effort to interconnect numerous exceptional heroes, although some narrative threads get overlooked in favor of others that dominate the plot. There is no question that the Avengers franchise has achieved something truly extraordinary with its series of successful superhero ensemble movies. Many movies find it challenging to handle multiple characters, but the Avengers films excel at managing a multitude.

While it’s true that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has produced thrilling films featuring multiple heroes, it’s also undeniable that some tales get overshadowed in the process. Nevertheless, there are numerous subplots that warrant more attention and could have been developed further within the MCU. These lesser-known stories range from character relationships to the aftermath of cosmic catastrophes. The MCU holds a wealth of untold narratives beyond those showcased on the big screen.

7. Wanda & Vision’s Romance

Following the incidents depicted in “Captain America: Civil War”, Wanda and Vision embark on a covert journey together. However, it’s important to note that their relationship didn’t have much time to develop. One moment, Vision is protecting Wanda, and the next, they are hiding out in Scotland following the aftermath of the Sokovia Accords. Yet, a significant amount of events transpired between them off-camera that weren’t shown.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the bond between Wanda and Vision stands out as exceptionally unique. Vision is an artificial entity whose vitality stemmed from the Mind Stone, while Wanda possesses immense magical abilities. Although their relationship unfolds in the series ‘WandaVision’, it’s essential to note that this connection was conjured within Wanda’s mind following Vision’s demise. This relationship continues to captivate and baffle audiences due to its intricate layers, making it a notable aspect of the MCU.

6. Tony Stark & Bruce Banner’s Friendship

Conversely, a relationship that is simpler in nature is the friendship between Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Tony Stark, a brilliant inventor and engineer, single-handedly created the Iron Man suit. On the other hand, Bruce Banner’s genius scientific research resulted in his transformation into the fearsome green giant, Hulk, capable of leveling buildings. Despite their unique circumstances, they share common interests and have a deep respect for each other.

Initially, they acknowledge each other’s presence, but as days pass, Tony seeks solace and support from Bruce, forming a therapeutic bond and friendship during tough moments. It’s noteworthy that both Tony and Bruce are the ones who wear the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame, restoring balance. These characters, with their exceptional personalities and unique camaraderie, boast one of the MCU’s most captivating relationships. A film centering around their partnership would have been engaging, brimming with action, humor, and sharp wit.

5. Natasha Romanoff & Clint Barton’s History Together

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s an intriguing bond between Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, and Natasha Romanoff, or Black Widow. Initially, they were adversaries in Budapest, with Natasha serving the Red Room, a group that trained her to be an assassin, while Clint was part of SHIELD. However, Clint’s unique knack for perceiving things others miss allowed him to discern Natasha’s discomfort with her role as Black Widow, and he assisted her in escaping that past.

Afterward, the duo grew exceptionally close. Nat ended up being integrated into Clint’s family, serving as something of an aunt to his children. Nat and Clint stood by each other through thick and thin, and when the crucial moment arrived in Avengers: Endgame to make the ultimate sacrifice for one another, they moved without a second thought to lay down their lives for the other. Although Nat was the one who survived, their deep connection left a profound impact in the limited scenes that showcased its development.

4. The Blip Should Have So Much Further Of A Reach

When Thanos eliminated half of all existence, it wasn’t only Earth that felt the impact. In reality, Thanos’ elimination affected half of all life across the universe. One can merely speculate about the havoc and bewilderment experienced on countless other planets as they grappled with the mystery of why and how half of their inhabitants vanished. While Captain Marvel spent five years traversing space, providing aid to various planets, these adventures were never depicted or extensively detailed.

Furthermore, the Guardians of the Galaxy would have encountered various inhabitants from different planets, as well as Thor, each with their unique “blip” experiences to share. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) may not be able to delve deeply into every aspect of the blip’s influence, it is clear that its vast and sweeping devastation would have profound consequences. The MCU merely touched upon its effects on Earth, hinting at a much broader story waiting to be explored.

3. Thor’s Power Upgrade In Avengers: Infinity War

In the movie “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor faced hardship as his sister Hela shattered his hammer. Yet, he discovered ways to wield his talents without Mjölnir. Later, in “Avengers: Infinity War,” Thor embarked on a quest to create a tool powerful enough to vanquish Thanos. This quest resulted in the God of Thunder acquiring Stormbreaker, a weapon that enabled him to amplify his now greatly increased powers.

Even though Thor underwent a significant power upgrade, I find it disappointing how little it’s been delved into in the subsequent tales. After all, this is the same god who vanquished a version of Thanos, engaged Hulk in a one-on-one battle, and accomplished feats of seemingly impossible endurance and strength.

2. Quicksilver’s Sacrifice Was Quickly Forgotten

In the heart-pounding spectacle that is “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, I found myself drawn into the action alongside Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Initially, they stood with the ominous AI entity, Ultron, but as the story unfolded, it became clear they were on the wrong side. With a sense of duty and a growing awareness of right from wrong, these young champions switched allegiances to aid the Avengers in their life-saving mission against Ultron. The climactic battle on Sokovia was nothing short of spectacular, with Pietro selflessly saving countless lives. Tragically, however, his heroism was cut short by a few errant bullets that ultimately took his life.

Originally, the event was quite traumatic for Wanda and continued to weigh heavily on her for several years, as portrayed in “WandaVision”. However, due to significant occurrences and new connections, it seems her character has somewhat taken a backseat. Although Pietro does make an appearance in “WandaVision”, it’s important to note that he’s not Wanda’s brother from Earth-616. Pietro’s sacrifice was monumental, leading to Wanda’s acceptance into the Avengers, but later events have added layers of complexity.

1. The Reunion In Endgame Was Monumental

Discussing the conflict, the confrontation between Captain America’s team and their former compatriots in “Captain America: Civil War” was massive indeed, leading to James Rhodes sustaining severe injuries. The bond shared by characters such as Tony Stark and Steve Rogers was shattered, and distinct sides were drawn. This rift could have easily persisted throughout their lives, defining the dynamics between these heroes. However, when they reunite in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame”, it’s a momentous occasion that speaks volumes about their ability to overcome differences.

In spite of their disagreements and the harmful impacts their decisions had on one another, these champions found unity when Earth faced peril. They banded together to perform the tasks necessary for salvation. Tensions persisted, worsening during the five-year gap when they went their separate ways, but whenever a chance to reach the quantum realm arose, they set aside their differences and functioned as a united team, commonly known as The Avengers.
