7 Years Of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan: Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar go down memory lane on film's anniversary

As a die-hard fan who has watched and rewatched Shubh Mangal Saavdhan more times than I can count, I must say that this movie holds a special place in my heart. Seven years have passed since “the biscuit fell,” but it still feels like yesterday when Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, Mudit, turned my world upside down (in the best way possible).

Seven years ago, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan left a lasting impression on India’s film industry by tackling a delicate subject with originality. Featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar, this blend of comedy and drama humorously and truthfully dealt with erectile dysfunction, shattering taboos and inspiring discussions. Recently, Khurrana and Pednekar commemorated the occasion by posting on social media: “7 years since the big event happened”.

On Instagram, Khurrana posted a video from the movie, looking back and celebrating the film’s anniversary. Meanwhile, Bhumi uploaded a photo with her co-star, depicting them enjoying tea and cookies. Bhumi captioned it, “Mudit and Sugandha in 2024, marking 7 years since the cookie incident”.

In my perspective as a lifestyle enthusiast, I must say that the movie, skillfully directed by R.S. Prasanna, truly stole the spotlight. The captivating storyline was one of its kind, resonating with viewers on a deeper level. Notably, the chemistry between Khurrana and Pednekar brought their characters to life, making the film an enthralling blend of entertainment and intellectual stimulation.

7 Years Of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan: Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar go down memory lane on film's anniversary

In the movie, Ayushmann Khurrana takes on the role of Mudit and Pednekar plays Sugandha. When Mudit’s impotence issue unexpectedly becomes a public matter only two days before their wedding, it creates tension that could potentially derail the ceremony due to meddling from both families. Despite attempting numerous solutions for his condition, Mudit finds himself in a humorously chaotic predicament instead.

In a previous interview, filmmaker R.S. Prasanna reminisced about collaborating with Ayushmann and Bhumi during the production of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, expressing that it was like realizing a long-held dream for a director. He had been impressed by their acting in Dum Laga Ke Haisha and believed they were perfect fits for this project. He likened working with them to finding a creative partner in art.

Similarly, Bhumi appreciates this movie greatly due to its daring exploration of a sensitive subject often shied away from by many, even couples. She wishes that the film sparks significant dialogues and considers it an excellent choice for family viewing, as it skillfully blends amusement with heartfelt, recognizable turmoil.

Simultaneously, professionally speaking, Khurrana recently appeared in Dream Girl 2 with Ananya Panday. The film received favorable feedback from both fans and critics. On the other hand, Bhumi made her latest appearance in Bhakshak, a production by Shah Rukh Khan which was met with excellent reviews.
