7 Yellowjackets Characters Most Likely to Meet Their Grizzly End by Season 3 Finale

Caution for those not fully caught up on ‘Yellowjackets‘ season 3! If you haven’t yet watched it, make sure to stream it using a Paramount+ subscription to avoid spoilers.

Among the most gripping TV series airing now is “Yellowjackets” on Showtime, a chilling drama filled with cannibalistic elements that leaves a mounting toll of casualties across two distinct timeframes and settings. Following the intense Season 2 finale where Juliette Lewis’ character Natalie met her demise, viewers (and Misty) are still reeling, but so far in Season 3, there have been fewer fatalities, with only two characters discovered deceased: a conscientious waiter and Lottie, whose passing is yet to be officially confirmed.

Viewers aren’t assured that their beloved characters will make it through the remaining episodes of the third season without a doubt. Sophie Nélisse, one of the stars, hinted to Entertainment Weekly that there are certainly more heart-wrenching goodbyes in store.

As time passes, it becomes clearer that more beloved characters must depart. I’ve often shared this sentiment with those who have passed away. Essentially, I tell them, ‘It’s a tribute to your exceptional acting skills because we wouldn’t write you off if we didn’t care for you, as the audience would feel the same.’

If things continue as they are, it might lead fans to anticipate that each major character on the show could meet their end, given their grandeur and popularity (even you, rough-around-the-edges Coach Ben). However, let me share my thoughts on which characters might be written off before the season concludes. Farewell in advance, folks.

Robin

In my perspective as a movie reviewer, you might find yourself puzzled about the character of Robin, introduced in Season 3 among the surviving cast members. So far, Anisa Harris’ character has not left a significant mark on any scenes, making her somewhat understated in the grand scheme of things.

In Episode 4, I noted that she frequently appeared on screen with a profound lack of emotion despite little dialogue, possibly paving the way for Robin to receive significant tasks in a future episode. Yet, due to our limited knowledge about her, it seems her formal introduction will subtly offer intriguing details, making viewers hopeful for her continued existence before she suffers a tragic demise.

Coach Ben

I find it hard to accept that the trial in “12 Angry Girls And 1 Drunk Travis” managed to lessen my belief that Coach was behind the cabin fire at the end of Season 2. However, it did. The not-guilty verdict didn’t fill me with much confidence about his chances of survival.

Despite Nat and Misty’s persistent wish for his survival, even if it means solitude, Shauna’s forceful manipulation of others to align with her doesn’t hint at tranquil negotiations or joyous days ahead for the one-legged bearded man.

Tai

Although it’s heartening to see Tai and Van’s relationship thriving, this series often paints happiness as transient. Tawny Cypress’ portrayal appears entrenched in a troubled phase, one that seems hard to extricate herself from, given her past role in another character’s demise. Moreover, the connection between Tai’s haunting by the No-Eyes Man and the wilderness survival narrative remains unclear.

If Van has indeed achieved remission and is no longer facing imminent threats from cancer, it seems only fair and reasonable that Tai, being one half of their couple, should be the one to bid adieu, given the current circumstances. However, until we have more clarity on the situation, this parting might not take place just yet.

Walter

In Season 2, Elijah Wood’s character Walter was a refreshing change, portraying a well-prepared and polite knight in disguise, hiding from crime, who provided Misty with the attention and friendship she desperately needed. However, in Season 3, unfortunately, Misty seems to have lost interest in Walter, and her interactions with him reflect a lack of courtesy that was once part of her character, likely due to her mistaken assumption that other Yellowjackets survivors genuinely appreciate her.

Though Walter is currently acting as a guardian angel, guiding her out of the house and helping her sober up, his role has become more disposable than ever before. If he doesn’t begin collaborating with Jeff on selling furniture soon, I believe Misty will ultimately break free from his protective care in a decisive manner.

Mari

With Mari, it seems to me that the creative team behind Yellowjackets might employ a classic storytelling technique where they make viewers grow concerned for a character, only to assure their safety, and later on, unexpectedly eliminate that character. This concept isn’t an exact term, but it’s close enough.

During Mari’s brief time at Coach’s shelter, she might not have solidified herself as the enigmatic Cave Dweller, but a fractured leg won’t be beneficial for Mari if she finds herself in a perilous situation requiring swift escape, like collapsing in a cave filled with harmful gases. However, if Shauna is the one to act, Mari could have an endless number of legs and still not outrun Shauna’s relentless pursuit.

Jeff

Although it’s uncertain if Shauna had traumatic experiences before the Wilderness incident, she has encountered nothing but harrowing situations since the tragic plane crash. This includes losing and subsequently consuming her best friend, as well as losing a stillborn baby (and definitely not ingesting that loss). It’s likely that more hardships are in store for her.

Primarily, Melanie Lynskey’s character, Shauna, hasn’t experienced anything as traumatic as her past self, and it’s unlikely that Sarah Desjardins’ character, Callie, will meet her end. Since Jeff and Shauna have grown incredibly close due to their shared experiences with heinous crimes, Jeff’s death would be the most straightforward way to cause immense sorrow for Shauna.

Van

Given that viewers of Yellowjackets did not see Van receive the official word about her cancer remission, I’m curious if this news was indeed shared with her. It’s not that I hope her recent joy is just a facade to hide a more grim reality regarding her health status.

Indeed, there’s another possibility similar to what I proposed for Mari’s storyline. Here, viewers may initially think that Van has been freed from cancer threats, yet a tragic event like a car accident or lightning strike (both quite unexpected occurrences) might happen instead, possibly unrelated to the Wilderness. Alternatively, both Van and Tai could meet an untimely end together, which might provide a more impactful plot twist, although I genuinely hope it won’t be so.

Determine who among the viewers will get to watch the next episode of “Yellowjackets” first, as it becomes available on Fridays via Paramount+, and subsequently airs on Sundays at 8:00 p.m. on Showtime.
