Mercuryo announces fiat-to-crypto on-ramp services for Tether on TON

Mercuryo, a global payments firm, collaborates with TON to offer fiat-to-cryptocurrency conversion solutions specifically for USDT transactions.

The project kicked off by adding Tonkeeper, a personal digital wallet capable of handling transactions on The Open Network (TON) and various other cryptocurrencies in their basic layers, to the mix.

Aviessa Khoo, Mercuryo’s Executive Director based in Singapore, expressed her pleasure with the launch of USDT (Tether) on-ramp services within the TON system. These new services facilitate the conversion of fiat money into USDT, enhancing transaction efficiency across the network.

The integration reaches as far as Wallet, a Telegram cryptocurrency wallet boasting over 900 million users, enabling instant and cost-free transfer of USDT between any Telegram contacts around the world.

Excited to share that Mercuryo has added support for USDt on Ton Blockchain! This announcement was made official at Token2049 by Paolo Ardoino and Brian Armstrong, paving the way for USDt adoption on TON, a prominent L1 blockchain. Users can now easily purchase USDt via Tonkeeper.— Mercuryo (@Mercuryo_io) April 19, 2024

“For the first time ever, the addition of USDT (Tether) support to the TON network enables a broad market economy on a decentralized platform in history.”
Oleg Andreev, CEO of Ton Apps Group

Later in the spring, Mercuryo intends to roll out the option of converting digital currencies into traditional money through off-ramp services. This functionality will not only apply to Mercuryo’s own wallet but also to other prominent wallets within the TON network, thereby broadening its capabilities.

The TON Foundation introduced a program to motivate USDT adoption on its network, distributing 11 million Toncoins as rewards. At the Token2049 event, Telegram’s creator, Pavel Durov, unveiled novel TON capabilities such as payment options for ads and tipping, NFT sticker sales, and advanced crypto account features.
