As an experienced analyst, I’ve seen my fair share of restructuring announcements in the tech industry, and Yuga Labs’ latest move led by co-founder and CEO Greg Solano is no exception. Solano’s message to his team, as shared on X, strikes a chord with me given its transparency and candor.
On Friday, Greg Solano, a co-founder at web3 innovator Yuga Labs, announced that the company would be parting ways with some team members, as stated in an internal memorandum he released.
Hey there, I understand it’s been a challenging day for us in the crypto world. I’m fully committed to revitalizing Yuga and returning to our core values, which unfortunately necessitates some difficult choices. The most painful decision I had to make was parting ways with some exceptionally skilled team members. Here’s what I shared with them this morning:

As the new CEO of the company, I, Greg Solano, expressed my feelings about the challenging day we faced following the restructuring announcement through a post on X.
I’m completely committed to revitalizing Yuga and returning it to its core values, which requires tough choices. The most challenging decision I face is parting ways with some exceptionally skilled team members.
In Solano’s declaration, Yuga Labs is described as having strayed from its original path. The organization intends to focus on building a compact, nimble, and cryptocurrency-centric team moving forward.
As I took on the role of CEO for the past two months, I found it necessary to thoroughly assess the current state of our company. I came to realize that our founding principle of prioritizing creativity has been clouded by intricate business processes. Regardless of our intentions and dedication, we seem to get entangled in committees and work groups.
As a researcher, I’d put it this way: Solana announced the beginning of their project, with Yuga Labs’ CEO disclosing the collaboration of Farawaygg, a renowned web3 game development firm.
The latest purchases by Farawaygg, specifically HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara, give Yuga Labs the freedom to focus primarily on creating 3D games for Otherside. More information about this strategy will be shared soon, according to Solano.
