As a researcher with experience in the blockchain industry, I’m excited about ZkSync’s upcoming v24 upgrade and their commitment to decentralization. Having followed the development of this platform since its establishment in 2019, I’ve seen firsthand how they’ve leveraged zero-knowledge roll-up technology to reduce transaction costs significantly.
On Friday via a post on X, ZkSync announced plans for its upcoming v24 upgrade, which focuses on increasing the decentralization of its protocol. As part of a larger initiative, the team aims to transfer network control to the user community by the end of the summer.
I’m an expert in analyzing blockchain technologies. In 2019, a new platform was launched with an innovative approach. Instead of storing data on-chain where each transaction requires validation by every node, this platform uses zero-knowledge roll-up technology. This method offloads data storage off-chain, thereby significantly reducing transaction costs for users. I find this implementation quite intriguing as it allows for greater scalability and efficiency while maintaining the security features of a blockchain system.
As a dedicated crypto investor, I can assure you that zkSync remains steadfast in its pledge to decentralize. Since introducing EIP4844 support in March, our team has been fully committed to this goal. With the upcoming release of version 24, we aim to complete the last planned protocol upgrade. After that, we’ll be ready to transfer network governance into the hands of the community, allowing them to take an active role in its future development and decision-making.

According to ZkSync, the v24 update is considered the final step before governing authority can be handed over to the community. They anticipate completing the necessary preparations for this transfer by the end of June.
With ZkSync’s announcement of an upcoming upgrade, there has been increasing buzz about the possibility of a cryptocurrency giveaway, or airdrop, from the Layer 2 solution. This event is predicted to occur as soon as this coming June. In the past year, investors have moved approximately $8 million in digital currencies to ZkSync.
Since last March, there has been growing excitement among traders about the upcoming ZkSync airdrop. They are eagerly waiting for the formal launch of the upgrade, which may serve as a precursor to this event. However, the precise announcement and specifics regarding the airdrop have yet to be released by ZkSync, leaving the community in anticipation for what comes next following the upgrade.
