PolitiFi Memecoins Dip Amid Biden-Trump Presidential Debate

As a seasoned financial analyst with a background in cryptocurrencies, I find the recent market reaction to the U.S. presidential debate intriguing. The price drops of politically themed tokens like TRUMP and BODEN coins during the debate are noteworthy, particularly since neither candidate directly addressed the cryptocurrency sector.

During the fiery debate between President Joe Biden and former candidate Donald Trump, the cryptocurrency market was thrown into turmoil. Notably, the value of PolitiFi memecoins – digital currencies based on political figures – plummeted dramatically.

The TRUMP coin, inspired by the “Make America Great Again” motto, started declining 20 minutes prior to the debate and had dropped by 16.58% at the time of reporting. This significant sell-off caused the coin’s value to plummet from $10 down to $7.

A fusion of the 50-day and 20-day moving averages has created a notable resistance point. Should bulls surmount this barrier, they’ll encounter another challenge at the 200-day EMA, serving as an additional hurdle for them to clear.

As a crypto investor, I’ve noticed that the price of BODEN, the Biden-themed coin, has taken a significant hit. It dropped more than 53% from its peak in a single day.

Market Overview

As a researcher studying the cryptocurrency market, I’ve noticed that the price movements of PolitiFi tokens exhibited significant volatility in response to the political debate. Notably, STRUMP and BABYTRUMP tokens experienced declines of over 10%. Intriguingly, Bitcoin, which serves as a benchmark for the broader cryptocurrency sector, recorded a modest gain of 1.1% during the same period. This disconnect suggests that politically themed tokens may behave differently than traditional crypto assets.

Why PolitiFi tokens are Crashing

In the latest presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the discussion encompassed various subjects such as the economy and social issues. Surprisingly, neither candidate touched upon the rapidly growing cryptocurrency sector, an omission notable given substantial financial support from crypto-aligned political action committees during this election cycle.

As another debate approaches, the cryptocurrency world watches closely, optimistic that their burgeoning sector will receive recognition in upcoming conversations.

Additional Observations

Max Jones, the creator of Memepad, posits that the use of PolitiFi memecoins during the U.S. presidential election campaigns could serve as an indicator of candidates’ popularity.

Jones remarked that the volatility of the memecoins he follows is influenced by the political hype, but their development also tends strongly toward the overall market trend. It’s uncertain which of these memecoins will endure, but for now, they offer an unusual indicator for Trump, Biden, and RFK.
