‘I Was Throwing Up And Having Make-Out Scenes’: Alexandra Daddario Recalls Working While Pregnant And How Her Co-Stars Learned The Big News

As a gamer and avid fan of TV shows, I can only imagine the unique challenges Alexandra Daddario faced during the filming of “Mayfair Witches” Season 2 while pregnant. It’s not every day that an actress has to deal with morning sickness, romantic scenes, and hiding her pregnancy from coworkers all at once!

In many workplaces, an employee sharing pregnancy news may not significantly impact colleagues. However, this is different when filming a TV show. For instance, Alexandra Daddario found out she was pregnant during the production of the second season of “Mayfair Witches” in New Orleans. This meant dealing with scenes involving vomiting and romantic scenes, which added complexity to the shoot, unrelated to Mardi Gras celebrations.

If you’ve somehow overlooked the recent developments, I’d like to inform you that Daddario announced her pregnancy, marking the first child for her and husband Andrew Form as a couple. While fans might have been taken aback by this unexpected news regarding the fashionable celebrity, some members of the cast and crew from “Mayfair Witches” were observant enough to notice the early signs.

One aspect of her role was handling the age-old problem of morning sickness while filming a show. Her character Rowan Fielding from Season 1 had romantic complications adding to the challenge. Moreover, filming the most unsettling and frightening scenes for “Mayfair Witches” didn’t make things easier. Consequently, it wasn’t long before Daddario understood she needed to be open about her situation. She shared with Vogue:

While filming on set, I found myself alternating between being sick and sharing intimate moments with my costars. By the fifth week, I came to the realization that concealing this situation any longer was an impossible task.

The actress made an additional hint to her co-star Ben Feldman when she refused a turkey sandwich due to her inability to consume deli meats, besides the vomiting being a clear indication. However, she attempted to dismiss his suspicion with a carefree demeanor, but wasn’t entirely convincing.

When it grew evident that she could no longer conceal her pregnancy, she began to view this revelation as potentially beneficial for those around her, hoping for more opportunities to take official leaves of absence. However, this was merely a wishful thinking. Fortunately, her colleagues were supportive and understanding, making the adjustment process smoother for her. In her own words:

When I shared the news of my pregnancy with my job, I expected to receive a considerable amount of time off for dealing with my morning sickness in privacy. Regrettably, that wasn’t the case. Fortunately, I had supportive costars who were parents and showed understanding when I needed to take breaks during filming due to feeling nauseous or vomiting.

Despite the difficulty of concealing her upcoming professional achievement for an extended period, she managed to effectively hide it from her fans. She utilized strategic clothing selections during public appearances and carefully planned poses for bikini photos at the beach to maintain the secrecy. Kudos to her for managing to sustain the surprise for as long as possible.

As an avid fan of “Mayfair Witches,” I can’t help but wonder which tender moments between the characters in Season 2 were captured right after Daddario’s infamous behind-the-scenes incident. It might not be the most conventional way to express excitement, but it definitely keeps things intriguing!

The second installment of “Mayfair Witches” on AMC is expected to be released towards the end of 2024, without a definitive premiere date announced as of now. An AMC+ subscription will grant access to this upcoming season.
