As a seasoned gamer and avid cyclist, I’ve been following the latest trends in tech and gear for years. With my love for both hobbies colliding, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by Ventete’s innovative new product – the aH-1 inflatable helmet.
As a gamer, I’d describe it like this: “Ventete, known for their innovative creations, unveiled the aH-1 helmet from their stable. This ingenious, inflatable headgear compresses to an astonishingly thin 3.5 cm (around 1.3 inches) when flattened.”
The Ventete aH-1 helmet, manufactured in the UK and assembled in Switzerland, is the result of a decade-long commitment to meticulous development and rigorous testing. This cutting-edge helmet showcases groundbreaking technology, such as the company’s exclusive pneumatic structural system. This system, protected by multiple patents, sets the aH-1 apart with its use of compressed air instead of the conventional foam found in helmets, resulting in a lighter yet equally secure product. According to Ventete, the helmet has been certified in both the UK and EU, surpassing safety requirements and earning CE/UKCA certification EN1078. Additionally, tests conducted by Imperial College London revealed that the aH-1 outperforms foam helmets in reducing linear and rotational impacts, crucial factors contributing to traumatic brain injuries during cycling accidents.
The micro-collapsible helmet’s unique design features interconnected nylon chambers, which are arranged in a way that enhances breathability and ventilation. There are eleven of these chambers in total. Each chamber is reinforced with a sturdy polymer rib for durability, followed by a soft padding layer to protect against abrasion and reduce the likelihood of punctures.
Fundamentally, Ventete aims to provide city commuters with ease and convenience. Inspired by the surge of ride sharing services, e-scooters, and e-bikes (a “radical transformation” of urban mobility), the company has engineered a helmet that caters to modern city riders’ needs. Co-founder Colin Herperger recalls asking himself, “What if you could have a helmet that folds away like origami and fits in your pocket?” The Ventete aH-1 makes this possible by collapsing into only a tenth of its original size, reducing its bulk by 90%. This not only saves space but also allows users to carry it along with their laptops and notebooks. Moreover, the helmet takes merely 30 seconds to inflate back to its normal size using the included rechargeable mini pump, prioritizing your valuable time.
Are you curious? Starting today, July 15, Ventete is allowing sign-ups on their website for “priority access” to the upcoming release of their product, the Ventete aH-1, which will be available to the public tomorrow, July 16. The price for this innovative product is set at £350 GBP.
